  1. Why would he want to go to a country with what many are calling an 'inferior freestyle program' and wrestle US folkstyle? I can see a trip or two and some extended stays, but I doubt he enrolls at a US college.
  2. $10,001 I think? Or as the other poster said $10,001 US! More than he ever made at a wrestling tournament. The nerve of him to get out of the sport!
  3. Is it possible that DT thought the match was actually completed/ I enjoyed his moment with the Iranian coach.
  4. First of all... Cejudo is rumored to be seeking a fight at 145. Next, I would suggest not just looking at the "average age" of 57 and 61 kg guys. I would suggest looking at dominance over an extended period... which is where I started this conversation. How many guys at 57 and 61 have medalled consistently over 2+ quads? Not a lot. But you see it quite a bit with big guys. Saduleev, Snyder, Taylor, Geno, Taha, Baumgartner, Medved, Karelin, etc, etc, etc. Which of the light guys consistently put it all together for multiple quads? Jordanov? Not Heiguchi... serious issues in 2021 for instance. Mirrors other combat sports with guys like Jones, Fury, Couture, etc.in UFC.
  5. GReat job. What a way to go out. What a career.
  6. Didn't Hidlay beat him at Farrell?
  7. Going up to 145 too, I think. This was my point btw. The weight gain. With day before.
  8. It doesn't really matter. He made his decision and seems to be at peace with it.
  9. unfortunately for those hypothetical wrestlers, it is just about the most ethnically homogeneous country on earth, Some Ainu, some Koreans. Both low numbers.
  10. But I'm super happy with his result and will be more than happy if he continues on this path through 2028. We need someone who is scoring points. If not him, I hope we have someone else who can get it done.
  11. Yes. His hips may be Sir Mix-a-lot approved. And his snaps were vicious.
  12. Honestly, I thought Taylor was more physically impressive that Saduleev. Especially with Saduleev's ill-fitting singlet. Who thought that thing looked good?
  13. What is Cejudo's competition weight now?
  14. Original Statement: "Vito isn't that young! He is 25. Does he have another entire cycle of him being the US rep left in him? " How have goalposts changed? Answer: They haven't. He is not that young despite just finishing his college career. He has been battling injuries. He's perpetually sucked out. He's still one of the best in the world, but his recent results seem to indicate a downward trend.
  15. That's impressive. He was a great wrestler. I saw him in person. But lightweights tend to have shorter careers at the top. It's just the way things work. One example doesn't prove a trend.
  16. Ghassempour's shoulder look like cannonballs!
  17. How did Richards do at Worlds and how was he at OTT the next year? Hard working guy. Had a great weekend. Not exactly prolonged excellence that we \are talking about here. I was talking about perpetually injured, perpetually sucked out Vito and whether he is able to maintain his position as our top guy over the course of this next quad. My guess is no.
  18. Yes, since most seem to be held back a year.
  19. OK, got it figured out... Social media has him turning 18 this past August. That puts him at 19 his senior year and 20 before classes start Fall semester of his freshman year (at most schools).
  20. A horrible decision? He got on with his life. He is not enjoying wrestling as much as he used to, he has a growing family, and there is other things he wants to do with his life. Give me a break.
  21. That is unlikely, but possible. What is his date of birth? It is really weird with the conflicting DOB for him from multiple sources. My guess is that he is probably 18 and turns 19 in the spring.
  22. I was in attendance when he won 95 worlds at the age of 19. And he looked 19.
  23. Agreed. I'm just not sure this is the same DT. He gave up go behinds to Trent Hidlay. I love Trent, but he is no Ghasempour. I have concerns about 2024 DT. I hope I am wrong. I do know that DT knows how to wrestle Iranians, so fingers are crossed.
