  1. You may very well be right. I don’t know if him getting ridden will be his biggest problem. I think it could be once guys start rolling around and scrambling. Folkstyle scrambling is not something easily learned in a year or 2.
  2. I am going to say Lilledahl. He has a tough path and I don’t think he makes the finals. His path could be Witt who almost beat him earlier in the year/Strickenberger who will be a few hours away from weigh in, then Dean Peterson who beat him last year, then Seymour who beat him last year. Duke is my sleeper to go down though. Cardenas could do it. Cannon sounds like he is in a much better place than big tens so he could be the guy to do it as well.
  3. That’s a crazy statement when he is almost assuredly going to run into Jax, Siedel, Davino, Larkin, Vega, or Bassett. I think it would be cool if he does well but those guys all beat him in my opinion. There are probably more I’m not thinking about.
  4. Ok. This is helpful. Removing the word control to avoid that rabbit hole. New wording: When the offensive wrestler establishes takedown criteria and the defensive wrestler has three points of contact with the mat, the defensive wrestler is allowed one identifiable wrestling action to break takedown criteria. If that action is unsuccessful, reaction time is satisfied and the takedown is awarded. If successful, the offensive wrestler must re-establish takedown criteria and reaction time restarts.
  5. Good point. Do you think this works better? “Reaction time is satisfied when the defensive wrestler has three points of contact with the mat and the offensive wrestler retains control following one identifiable wrestling action.” There is still some subjectivity on retains control but at least it defines the reaction to being one identifiable wrestling action. For example, if you take the Welsh/McEnelly controversy, it would become moot that Welsh took his hand off the mat because that was not his first identifiable wrestling action. The first was his attempt to reach back for the whizzer which he failed.
  6. Alright, since the next couple days will be excruciating to wait, I have an idea for how to officially define reaction time in the rules. Here is my rule proposal: Reaction time is satisfied when the defensive wrestler has three points of contact with the mat and the offensive wrestler maintains takedown criteria following one identifiable wrestling action. ——— Feel free to suggest some changes to the language if you think it’s warranted. The inspiration is the rule for the NFL on a catch, 2 feet and a football move. It’s simple and allows for there to be a definition for something that is currently undefined. Thoughts?
  7. Taking fanhood out of it I will say Caliendo over Mesenbrink because of how crazy it would be for him to finally win it in the finals his senior year. Fanhood in it I will say Cardenas over Duke.
  8. Oh man well I guess two great minds are in alignment
  9. I am really interested in Larkin/Duke. We haven’t seen Duke wrestle anyone with Larkin’s length and counter scrambling ability. Larkin will have to ride to slow him down though otherwise Duke’s gas tank could be the difference.
  10. Ohio State. 125, 133, 141, 149, 157 and 285 have a non zero chance of winning. 8 is insane.
  11. I like that pick too.
  12. I think chaos is coming for 149. Ryder Block or Aden Valencia make the finals out of the bottom half.
  13. You probably know more about the Iowa guys than me but Estrada wrestles good guys close and loses = positive. Williams wrestles good guys close and loses = negative. Just an observation from the outside looking in.
  14. They do each have a returning national finalist in the quarters.
  15. My biggest takeaway from how they seeded is that it’s fine to miss the first half the season but don’t miss time late or you will be hit pretty hard.
  16. What makes you think Estrada is a factor? His offense is lacking unless he has improved tremendously. It feels like Block and Williams are both better than him.
  17. I had my eye on his draw for the pick em contests but he got a tough draw in my opinion.
  18. I like Aden Valencia‘s potential path. Block is another guy at 149 who I think has a path. His potential matchup with Joy is an interesting one. Provo has some tough guys every round but I think he could make a semis run.
  19. How on earth did James Conway get the 4 seed? Holy hell. That is unbelievable.
  20. You see what you want to see so what you see isn’t reality. Be suspicious of perceptions that conveniently confirm what you already want.
  21. You are not wrong. He really is just quack quack quacking.
  22. I would love for it to be held out west. The best path to getting new programs is out here and in Texas. San Francisco was a huge success this past year for the Super Bowl and would be a great location. Dallas, Phoenix and Vegas would all be fun.
  23. Occam’s razor…
  24. What are you talking about? I am saying the theory that the official had the lanyard due to the dual being at PSU and it was given to him for access to the facility is not plausible. The dual happened at Nebraska. The official seems to have been a PSU fan.
