That thread on HR reeks of irresponsible speculation. That being said, I'd be ecstatic and wonderfully bamboozled if Cannon, Volk, Alirez, Teemer, Haines, Mesenbrink, and whoever else was mentioned at one point in the thread actually came to Iowa
it's not my style and I think there is a little bit too much "look at me" in our society overall but I think this is also the type of engagement baiting that wrestling needs to become more popular. Besides, if I don't like something, I have the complete freedom of ignoring it. I like Basset as a wrestler, a lot, but I haven't watched a single piece of his social media content and don't plan on doing it until the day he commits to Iowa.
Finally got to watch the tournament over the weekend. I'm not familiar enough with the competition to really know how to feel about it all, but Seabiscuit did show a variety of leg attacks that I don't remember seeing from him 2 years ago. Hopefully, that translates to more than a couple of points at NCAAs. I'd be over the moon if he were a finalist
Glute ham raise, olympic weightlifting platform, climbing ropes, prowler sleds, a soundproof solo studio for screaming/weeping.
I like my wrestlers to focus on the tried and true fundamentals
The latest Ferrari thread on HR exploded to like, 12 pages of nonsense within a day so I didn't bother reading it all but I saw some posts suggesting the older 2 were done. What were the details, if you happened to catch them?
I've been anti Ferrari since the beginning and this whole saga has made me reflect on my fandom quite a bit. Angelo, from my knowledge, doesn't have nearly the same history as his older brothers so maybe give him a shot? Guarded outlook with him.
yeah, those people exist. I always thought RBY was an upstanding dude so I don't want to jump to conclusions. We don't know the full story here after all
I hope (and think) you're right. I did watch RBY's matches, including the 10-4 win at the Pan Am qualifier over a wrestler that Lee torched. I think Lee is the better wrestler but I also think that RBY has a bit more to give. He has the explosive speed that can give Lee fits. However, your point stands: we haven't really seen that version of RBY at 57kg, yet.
I think this match could be highly competitive. If RBY manages his weight well, he could wrestle Lee much like Wang did.
On the other hand, Spencer could end the match quickly or put it out of reach via par terre
In an interview at the conclusion of NCAAs (I believe it is posted by USA wrestling) he said that we'll be seeing him in wrestling, still. Paraphrasing.
Tom Brands emphasized the need to have the HWC operations lead, Chad Beatty, in Turkiye when Spencer was competing. I take that as a sign that the Hawks are taking the HWC more seriously now. Would love to have Alirez on board but It would take me some adjustment to see him and Woods on the same team.
There will be a riot If Alirez goes from champion to 4th place in the Iowa room.
Can someone fill me in on how much of a benefit Ritalin and similar substances can yield to an athlete? Just trying to understand the situation, not to pass a verdict or insinuate anything
