    The Penn state guys should be out of consideration based on strength of schedule… their team dodges top competition for the first half of season

    Well, I find his excuse lame. Be a man and create a schedule deserving of the number one ranked team. If some guys want or need to sit out some of it, then put in your backups and wrestle.

    Psu seems to wrestle a light schedule the first half of every season, at least since I started following college wrestling 5 years ago, or so. Snyder won Olympic gold while at Ohio state… it got results in his case. Which psu wrestlers have brought home Olympic medals while in college, for all the their soft scheduling.. and Tom Ryan didn’t create a weak schedule for the whole team. … just one of his guys who had a legitimate and immediate shot of winning Olympic medals

    Never suggested they were scared of other teams, that would be ridiculous. I do wonder if avoiding competition with other top teams for the first half of the season gives them an advantage come tournament time. The team race might be more interesting if PSU wrestled the tough schedules of the other top teams.

    Yes, I’m aware. The all star classic was hosted by psu, no? Wouldn’t be a good look to dodge obvious matches there. And, I think it was pretty clear that I was questioning why they don’t schedule top competition in *team* events, like dual meets and tournaments such as cklv.

    Maybe it’s one of the keys to their success. Avoid top competition as much as possible, let the rest of the field beat each other up, then swoop in at the end and clean house

    Why does PSU always seem to wrestle a weak schedule prior to B10 duals? I mean, who have they taken on so far? Hofstra? Lehigh? meanwhile, tOSU, for example, has faced VA tech, NC State, CKLV, Cornell tomorrow , among others. Look at most of the other top teams and you find they’ve all wrestled tougher schedules than the number 1 ranked team. Wth?

    People seem to be suggesting that Ryan has out-recruited Cael and therefore…. Which Ohio state wrestlers did Cael really go after? Honest question, just a casual fan.

    Looks like Ohio state is exceeding the experts' predictions thus far this year, rankings wise. So, why are so many Penn State wrestling fans so critical of anything Ohio State wrestling? They've got to be the most insecure fan base in sports
