  1. Panera Johnson v Brock Mauller should be a good one
  2. If you had to live in Iowa you would be a miserable fan - and turn on your own team any chance you get. look who they revere as coaches - miserable spiteful Iowa guys -
  3. Seems to me it would be a better “show” to be staged in December rather than in February.
  4. In my mind - most losses in the year someone won a title would be more significant than career losses due to the fact that career losses could be misleading if there is significant improvement over the course of the wrestler’s career.
  5. I know Lee is good but I doubt very seriously he could beat either Kerk OR Cass. This thing about one light weight beating the whole team is reserved for guys allergic to kyrptonite.
  6. I know the answer to this one! Kerk WAS # 1, and Parris WAS #2 so when Parris beats Kerk 3-1 they switch places. The arguments being made that CASS should be ahead of Kerk are not really changed by Kerk losing to Parris. If CASS should have been ranked ahead of Kerk why didn’t anyone complain before this week?
  7. Another fun fact - the HC at Binghamton is also from the Rochester area - GO SECTION V!
  8. Hilton is a smallish suburb west of Rochester proper - but their wrestling legacy is off the charts in the past 10-15 years of so.
  9. Here is a hypothetical where the sweet roll could be correct: if Lee keeps manhandling everyone - is ahead in the NCAA finals but tears something - cannot finish the match and has to medically forfeit - then he COULD still win the Hodge - MAYBE!
  10. Has anyone ever won the Hodge Award who was not undefeated in that year? if so, has anyone ever won the Hodge Award who did not win the NCAA’s.
  11. Having said that - the dark horse pickings are slim! 125 Barnett, Courtney or Cardinale? 133. Phillips or Mendez 141 who knows? 149 Paniro or Mauller 157 Andonian or Milner 165 Amine, Hamiti, Ramirez or Kharchla 174 Plott Romero Smith or Ruth 184 Loew Bolen or Munoz 197 Trimble Truax Warner or DePrez 285 Hendrickson Elam or Yaruslau (Colton Schultz would NOT be a dark horse but an underachiever IMHO)
  12. I would argue that just about anyone outside the top 5 in any weight who makes the NCAA Finals meets the definition of “dark horse”.
  13. I guess I assumed Teemer was done for this year, no?
  14. What about Logan Stieber? I would put Dake ahead of both but Stieber ahead if Lee - more better competition IMHO
  15. I think Brooks has been more dominant but Starocci has more upside - or room to improve.
  16. Any injury updates on: 125. De’Augustino and/or McKee 141 Woods 157. Andonian 165 Kharchla 174 M Lewis 197 Nino B I am sure there are others - any info to share?
  17. This is silly but I will take this a step further - I doubt Lee could hang with Fix and I don’t think Fix will ever beat RBY in college (folkstyle)
  18. So Munoz beats Coleman who beats Brooks. Who is #1 this week - Keckheisen who decked Hidlay?
  19. The box score shows that Coleman beat Brooks 9-7????? is that correct?
  20. So will the winners of each pool wrestle for overall #1, #3 and #5 today as well?
  21. It seems to me if he returns too soon from his surgery he is risking the chance at being an Olympian in 2024 in order to get NCAA title #4. Assuming he is not stupid doesn’t that answer the question? Isn’t he putting his priority on a 4th NCAA title in 2023 over a chance at an Olympic medal in 2024?
  22. Good call! It looks like Reiss (NC St) did not even place that year. I guess once every 40 years is worthy of note, eh?
  23. Close - but the Gophers had an AA at 157 in 2009 and it was not DS. They had no entry at 149 though. So it looks like only Leen and Gregor Gillespie were defending champs at 157 in 2009.
  24. I could have this wrong but I believe that in 2008 Schlatter was the only champ up until that time, no?
