  1. He repeated 8th grade 38 times to get ready for high school wrestling
  2. Lamer injured or did Bormet duck Sasso?
  3. Not in college anymore
  4. Watching tOSU Michigan now. Pretty sure the first stalling in the 125 match wasn't until there was 18 seconds left in the match, and the first stalling wasn't called in the 133 match until there was 35 seconds left in the third (although it was still tied).
  5. Yeah definitely looks like Columbia matched up much better with Lehigh. Not that it would have helped much but Columbia didn't have their starting 165 Ogunsanya against Cornell. But according to the Lehigh recap all 7 of Columbia's guys from 125-174 are ranked in the top 30.
  6. Did the match start at 125 and Lehigh's heavyweight missed out on the major by one point? Although not sure who would've won the tiebreaker
  7. Saw they beat Davidson a couple weeks ago. So I guess NJDan might still be unaware that Davidson wrestling exists
  8. You already started a thread begging people to call Starocci arrogant
  9. I’d also be fine with doing away with riding time
  10. This. I normally hate watching Murin (when he wrestles guys near his level), but I didn’t mind him here
  11. Tell us how you really feel, lol Edit: also didn’t Mason have an ROTC scholarship or something?
  12. Was there any comments from him or Brands about why Lee didn’t try harder for the fall? Vespa’s two other losses this year were both by pin, to two backups including one from Franklin and Marshall. I know the excuse I saw was “the ref kept calling PD,” but I’m surprised he didn’t let him up and try to get a turn from neutral or something, unless I guess he was afraid of getting cradled again. He clearly could turn him with ease, and had a lot more time to get the tech if needed.
  13. This was a pretty good dual. 184 was crazy. I crown Pitt as the transfer portal champions
  14. More Jimmy with his weird obsession of trying to get people to feel bad for Penn State. The main Iowa guys I was impressed with were Murin and Kennedy, but it’s not like they pulled off big upsets or anything.
  15. I don’t think the dual was boring overall though. A couple of the matches were, but it’s rare to have all 10 matches be exciting. 149-165 were all pretty good IMO despite the low scores. IIRC, I was particularly shocked Murin took a shot at the end despite already having the lead. I like DT’s suggestion, but I’d still like to see 3 point takedowns. IMO, guys are too worried about giving up an escape after getting a takedown that a lot of times they wait until the end of the period to initiate much action. I think a 3 point takedown would help change that.
  16. I don’t see how this is remotely feasible, unless you’re talking about switching college only. Which would likely reduce interest at the younger levels. But if we want to do it right you’d have to change all levels to freestyle and I can’t imagine that happening. You think many youth/middle school coaches are bad now, try to make them teach freestyle…
  17. Is there a link to the interview? I don’t recall the exact words, I know he talked about cutting weight, but I don’t recall him saying that was why he stopped wrestling. I thought he said “he knew his passion was football” or something
  18. Well to be fair, some of those people who just started following Penn State wrestling in 2011 probably don’t know who Spencer Lee is (only somewhat joking)
  19. No clue. Wait did he enter the Soldier Salute and MFF out without wrestling a match?
  20. Ybarra has 2, including 1 over a top recruit. Not sure if he has made 125 this year though?
  21. They’re not huge underdogs. Probably a tossup or slight lean to Steen
  22. I'm well aware of how Lee has been wrestling recently but it was only a month ago when he couldn't pin Charlie Farmer. And the last time he wrestled in the Iowa-PSU dual in 2020 he only managed a tech of Brandon Meredith (interestingly in that same season he also pinned Liam Cronin in under a minute).
  23. I feel like everyone is just assuming Spencer pins Steen, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if he didn't
  24. I don't really have an issue with a 1-year holdback, 2 seems a bit much especially if you apparently don't even go to school. I thought most holdbacks still go to school at least. But clearly it worked out for him. TBH I think it also takes away some of the claims that I've heard of RBY being "raw" prior to getting to PSU. Not many guys have the opportunity to spend a year training full-time before even going to high school.
  25. I mean he did literally say he didn't go to school at all and just wrestled
