That's a good lineup....but I still don't see them taking down PSU.. they will still be loaded and have guys in the pipeline that will develop as everyone else has. From an individual standpoint, I think it would be good to have them redshirt as the weights clear out a little bit.

I posed this same question earlier in this thread..... and it's a good question not necessarily from an NIL perspective but from a sports psych perspective. To me it's not really about having enough money....is Michigan creating a situation when some recruits may not go there because at anytime they could lose their spot to someone just a little better that's in the portal? Is there more stability for a wrestler to go to a school knowing their starting spot could be more safe? I get that if a guy performs they will be fine....but with the money Michigan has they seem to have the ability to bring in an AA over an R16 or R 12 guy, whereas other schools do not and that guy is pretty safe. It does create an interesting dynamic involving trust when you have money to bring just about anyone in you want.

If Bearclaw went 165 then it would push Ruiz to 174 and Valencia to 184. It would balance out the lineup a little more for ASU, but I am not sure it's best. Is McLane back another year as well? I believe he has one more year, but I am not sure he is using it.

I agree.... there are plenty of good kids in the East that could improve the roster.

They are definitely on the list.... In my mind they are more of a punch line because it didn't pay off. You know every big name free agent is going to be connected to one of 5-6 teams whether it ends up being true or not. Plus I'm jealous.

There is a reason everyone assumes Michigan for every transfer. Based on history it's Iowa or Michigan. Obviously it's not going to be true in every case, but the reality is Iowa and Michigan have earned the speculation. If not Yara, will it someone else or are they standing pat with their roster at HWT?

Regionals would be better, but only football and some of basketball can buy the NCAA, so they get what they want.

If those 5 teams left, it would most likely be for a reformed Pac12 conference, which would be great IMO. We will take your cast-offs..... Oregon State, LR, Poly, Bake, CBU, UVU, AirForce, UNC, Wyoming.... When the ACC collapses you can have Stanford.

We discussed this a couple years ago and another idea was 6 Regionals which added a mid-west and a South East. It cut the Regional down to a more manageable 14-15 teams.

But his bestest bestest friend is still at Michigan....Walters. So is he going to be on the move as well? Besties forever.

What if conferences were aligned by NIL? 1. Top 5 $$$ teams are in their own conference called "NIL Conference" - everyone else is in the "Other Conference" 2. NIL Conference sends their winner only to the NCAA since they only have 5 and need 6 to be a legit conference. 3. The Other Conference uses the same process we have now to fill out the other 32 spots. 4. Transfer portal stays within it's own conference.... in other words, wrestlers can't switch conferences. 5. All duals and tournaments are separate....NIL Conference can wrestle each other 3x each in duals (12 duals) to have a series winner. They can have 3 tournaments where they all wrestle each other again. Other Confernce has whatever tournaments they want with whatever teams they want within the Other Conference participants. 6. At the NCAA tournament, the top "Other Conference" team has the option to move to the NIL Conference the next season. However the NIL Conference still only gets the champ.

PAC 12: 1. Can wrestle with 4 teams as a conference for two years - but they only get the champion as an AQ and the rest fall into at large bids. So technically the conference is not done. 2. With the temporary merger with the MW for football, it is possible that AirForce and Wyoming move to the Pac 12 conference for wrestling. There are rumblings that some Big 12 teams are not happy with the conference. 3. The teams could all join the Big 12 for wrestling creating a logical East and West division (as noted by someone else). 4. Will Little Rock stay or join a conference closer to home? That's a good question. 5. As mentioned before, there are rumblings of teams not being happy in the Big 12. Is it possible there is an exodus of a couple of teams? IMO (as well as a majority of people) there are teams that should leave and connect to the Pac 12 as a Western conference - such as UNC, Utah Valley, Wyoming, Air Force, Cal Baptist.
