  1. Well, a little disappointing by D'aug and Tal Shahar but they are both coming off injuries. And at least the Tal shahar -Hardy match was the contrasting hairstyle contest of the year. Also think Lucas was pissed about that loss to Cass.
  2. He wasn't fired. He left after the season last year, evidently because he was unhappy about what took place, even though NU gave him an exemption.
  3. Aside from rumors I still don’t know why he was fired from NU. Any info?
  4. Yeah he’s a brute no question.
  5. Wrestling is hard.- Kyle Snyder after a win over Adam Coon (IIRC) at NCAAs.
  6. That’s what his teammates call him and this is his second year at heavy. Tony deserved this one but I have hope!
  7. Luke beats him next time.
  8. Yeah, he was a tad fuzzy on "Major Decision" vs. "that's a major decision" (4-1) as well. I really hope the next dual on B10+ is away.
  9. Yup. And took the kid from NC State to OT.
  10. That was my post after Midlands - glad someone agrees. The kid has been working and waiting for his shot. Btw , he beat Yahya fair and square a couple years back. He seems to have no ego - just goes out and wrestles - really well.
  11. I don't know if anyone here grew up watching Bowery Boys reruns, but the classic "It was 120 degrees centipede" was one of my favorite malapropisms ever.
  12. Yeah, I'm stretching it some - what's the term for words that sound right but make no actual sense in the context? Gibberish?
  13. "trying to free himself from the grapple", "looking to get on the leaderboard", "trying for the all-encompassing escape". Taking about the guy on top: "he wants to show some good defense here". You could make a very funny montage of his malapropisms.
  14. As an NU alum and ex-wrestler, I say with all love that our play-by-play kid is comically bad.
  15. I've got complaint #14,775 about Flo - and this is not a problem that is tech related, just a case of sheer ineptitude. When I want to watch a replay of a match that interests me (in this case at the S Scuffle), I don't want to be be told who won it while attempting to find the replay. Flo commits this inane sin at all the tournaments it carries. As you attempt to find, say, the 157 final you will see a thumbnail for a video with a caption saying something like "Franek talks about toughing out Scuffle victory" right by the thumbnail for the video of the match. Nothing better than seeing the final score before watching the game! They did this at the OTT and every other time I have not watched live but looked forward to watching the matches to see who won. Clueless.
  16. It seems this boils down to: do the NCAA wrestling "powers that be" want to grow the sport and increase or retain the fan base and interest level it currently has, or not? If they do, the season (in some form) becomes important, along with the presentation of matches, meets and tournaments. If not they can just continue the trend and accept it will be a super-niche sport with interest beyond friends, family and wrestling alums confined to 3 days. Kind of like horse racing where the triple crown races are the three days that anyone other than bettors and industry people pay attention (on a much much smaller scale in wrestlings case of course). Beyond the fact that guys sitting out, forfeiting, picking their spots etc. diminishes any interest in the season for the few fans the sport has, this behavior tells everybody very clearly that the coaches, teams and wrestlers feel the season is unimportant. Keep sending that message and the remaining fans will finally receive it and agree, and, with a few exceptions, start tuning out. My two cents.
  17. Wrestlestat has Scharenbrock as redshirting in 2019 and having 1 year left after this season. And he's been waxed twice by Chumbley, who has two years left after this. Think Chumbley has an excellent AA shot this year. Three years in the room with Deakin has paid off!
  18. if Zahid needs a break from wrestling, there's always the next Tarzan movie.
  19. Can someone explain the call in the little Yaz match? The other guy flipped him on his back and then was in control after the roll thru and they gave Yaz 1. Truly bizarre.
  20. Odd, I didn't notice this happening in the other World Cup in Qatar.
  21. Shocking!!!
  22. Definitely. For the large majority of college wrestlers, NIL is no bonanza.
  23. Dake? I thought Nolf was our 74kg.
  24. I approve this message.
  25. Cam Caffey beats Louie DePrez. Love me some Cafe.
