  1. His father also passed away in late January and he seems very focused on his youth Academy. I would expect him to give it 1 last go, especially with how wide open 79kg is, but only time will tell. I hope he is not done but that is simply because I want to watch him wrestle forever.
  2. Pitt guy: This is a shock in terms of ability, he is no doubt a top 30 guy at the D1 level at 133. Career wins over Nic Bouzakis, Braxton Brown, Tyler Ferrara, Gable Strickland, Anthony Madrigal. SV Loss to E.Frost, 12-8 loss to Bailey, 7-6 loss to Yarbrough, 6-4 loss to Latona, etc. However, he has had lots of injury issues in college, missed his entire first season at Pitt (after already spending a year at Navy Prep) and only wrestled four matches this year before going down with injury. Also, he appears to be moving up to 141 with this transfer, where he would be very short for the D1 level and obviously at Pitt that is the weight his little brother is at still. At 133 he would have been the presumed starter but the rumor is that his best friend/cousin Tallmadge is moving up from 125 and will man 133 next year. He is from about 45 minutes away from TCNJ and I know there is a good relationship between his family and that staff. I expected him to end up at Rider or a smaller PA/NY program but I think this will be a great destination for him and if he stays healthy a legitimate title contender there
  3. We have already seen Plott move up to 92 it looks like, wonder who else follows. Is McFadden out? he would be the 2 seed at 79kg no?
  4. If Dake loses at the US Open he can go to WTT at 79kg (or 92kg if he really wants to go crazy)
  5. I doubt it ever happens due to weight management/injury and retirements but I think that D2vD3 dual would be a great event a way to grow interest in those levels. Also a pipe dream is a 2A vs 3A PIAA state champ dual
  6. Have these two not wrestled since 2018?
  7. He also confirmed he is looking at 74kg in the future which was assumed but nice to confirm
  8. It depends on the sport, but D3 is often stronger than D2 as there are far more D3 programs (which don't require scholarships), and many of those D3 schools have higher academics than the D2 schools. Wrestling specific I would say D2 and D3 are pretty inseparable and a dual of National Champs vs National Champs would be very close. Edit: just realized replied to the wrong comment. Oh well
  9. With Dake officially going 86, 1) that weight is stacked and 2) 79kg is WEAK. Of the current registrants Hamiti, McFadden, Wick and Kharcala are the top dogs. Other than Haines is there anyone else that could even register late? It doesn't seem like Burroughs is planning on competing this year (if ever again). Also with 86kg being so stacked, does anyone think we see a Zahid repeat from a few years ago where if someone doesn't make Final X from the Open they move up to 92 for WTT?
  10. Both moving up in weight, Brooks is also coming off an injury and may not be cleared this year
  11. Only if Stiles is holding 149
  12. I guess it depends if he wants to hold 149 or move back up to 157
  13. He must not want to use his redshirt? interesting move imo
  14. I heard rumors a while back that he wants to come back to Nebby and take over Lovett's spot...
  15. And potentially Kharchla at 174, he may have a MRS if he wants it and he is entered in the US Open this year so he is not done competing.
  16. Wrestling will always be a sport with more lightweights than heavyweights. If you weigh under 165 as an 18+ year old, wrestling is one of the only sports you can realistically compete in at a D1 level; anyone who weighs more than that has way more options and therefore is more likely to end up playing another sport. Also, people tend to be similar in size and stature to their parents, and lots of wrestling parents/former wrestlers are short, so their kids can only get so heavy based on frame restrictions.
  17. Where does he slide in? 157 with Cannon going up or down? 149 or 165 if Cannon stays pat? He has a redshirt if he wants to use it?
  18. Looking at Michigan's lineup this year they are shaping up pretty solid 125: Sotelo 133: Ragusin 141: Lemley 149:McNeil 157: Catrabone 165: Beau 174: Brock 184: Bullock/Transfer 197: Walters/Transfer 285: Ghadiali
  19. Unless Lockett or Facundo makes 157... 157/165: Lockett/Facundo 174: Ryder 184: BT 197: CM 285: Doucet
  20. They also have Gaj and Torres coming in at 157/165, that weight area is going to be a battle for the next 3-5 years
  21. 149 not 141. Beat Paniro this year at NCAAS
  22. Would make sense, hope he ends up about an hour North though
  23. Ohio State to complete the circle???
