Reminds me of the movie 300 and how the Spartans trained their young warriors. That is from extreme training from a very young age.
-
It has been going on so long someone said it was official, official last week. The thing that caught me off guard was so many non power 4's opting in. Everyone was saying most non power 4 schools wouldn't opt in. After the dust settled it looks like over 90% of the non power 4 schools opted in. That is disheartening. So all those non power 4 schools that opted in will have to eventually cut their rosters to 30 correct? Just doing quick math 500-600 wrestlers will be cut
-
10-4 was just arguing about that with a head D2 coach. But will have to happen? So what is the deadline for say Bloomsburg? They got like 55 kids on roster!
-
So is there an official list of D1 wrestling schools that have opted in? I know all the P4 schools are in. Does anyone know if say one of the MAC schools like Buffalo, Ohio, Kent St opt in does that automatically make them have to reduce their rosters to 30 kids immediately? That would result in a heck of alot of cutting

Dang that is bad. Hotbeds of wrestling crumbling. Cleveland State, Buffalo. Thanks for article. Didn't know it was that bad at Buffalo. Just inept leaders at these schools. Wonder how the new coach and wrestlers are doing now?

Your post made my day. Thank you!

Christian Pyles most disingenuous take.
Hilton Head Joe replied to BruceyB's topic in International Wrestling
Watch the Roger Kish match where Ben bumped up a weight in the dual against Minnesota. Ben stopped bumping up after that against the top guys. Same in freestyle. Cut way to much weight to make 163 in my opinion. This is one of many. He was just not natural physically strong. He was very fortunate to make an Olympic Team. Great trials win that year for Ben! Just can't put him on the 25 year team. Close but a few guys deserve it over him. -

Askren was the guy that could score 50 points in a match against guys he was better than. He was the father of the funk and the tech fall! Askren simply was not strong in comparison to the very top guys and when he met an equal opponent it was evident. Never could beat the top group of guys. He had an amazing marketable niche but should not be considered the greatest of an era. -
Penn Wrestling receives $20 million donation

They just landed Bechtold! But the athletes can't get any money at Ivies correct? Goes to school, facilities, gear etc. This is why Burroughs would never consider it? -
That makes sense! Usually don't have a HC job in D1 wrestling immediately after being fired! Buffalo must be a tough place to coach. The school is nice and highly ranked in allot of academic areas.
-
Last season? He is listed as the head coach at Bloomsburg this year. That was fast. Buffalo must have not to had a good reason to fire him since he got hired immediately as a D1 coach. Wondering what the story was there.

That is scary. What is his height? He looks tall. But Merrill is extremely short right? Like 5 10? If Ross is like 6 3 then my gosh he could pack it on! He is a star running back and I am sure that was keeping him lean! Mocco is what like 6 1? Height is important at the collegiate Heavyweight level as far as packing on good weight! I know small guys like Synder 5 10/5 11. Or Kurt Angle 5 11 and were both only about 220lbs dominated heavyweight. Then some guys bump up and get mauled and injured quick. Never know! We will see how Ferrari handles it! Ferrari is maybe 6 0? Trumball is like 6 3 or 6 4.

John Smith. Doesn't everyone get a chance to retire or resign?

Fargo Upsets and Break-Out Performers
Hilton Head Joe replied to BruceyB's topic in High School Wrestling
So it is safe to say OkSt had the best Fargo? I was impressed by Ziola who is committed to Nebraska. He looked pretty big. Does he go 197 at Nebraska I guess with Ferrari at 285lbs even though I think Ziola is bigger that he is. Nebraska could challenge PSU in a couple years? Wishful thinking but it is looking very appealing place to go for the #1 guys. Add Burroughs then boom! -
Yes stop. If Mocco were to flip that would hurt more than Bo. Alot more.
-
I wish we could have seen that match. Have they wrestled?
-
No way. Dang how is Ross doing it!!
-
Truth. That is a fact. I hear it is the only place he wants to go though.
-
Haha was my favorite match at Fargo. Was excited writing that cause this kid is gonna save Iowa! Don't think he will jump ship!
-
Folkstyle match Mocco would have majored him. Mocco is doing better on the pushouts though. Sucks being a small heavyweight especially in freestyle.
-
Mocco is the most talented by far. But he is the smallest size wise. Weight? 230? 225? He is so much better than Coby and maybe Dreshaun. He is smallish and that is the only reason he is not the Fargo champ or super 32 champ either. Coby is a specimen man. Just squeezed a gassed out Mocco on that last sequence and it looked like Mocco's eyes were about to pop out But my gosh did Mocco make adjustments from their last match. Steve Mocco is brilliant. Iowa needs to hold on to this one. And I think Mocco is better at folkstyle!
-
I just walked past Merrill. He looks 25 years old. And is a man amongst boys! He is jacked man!
-
For a #2 vs #4 he really dominated. We really are going to get to see who the best Heavyweight in the country is today! The top 4 kids 1. Dreshaun. 2. Merrill 3. Mocco 4. Bechtold all here! The entire quarters bracket at heavy are all future NCAA champs or AA. The guy Dreshaun is wrestling (Hach) is not ranked? He looked invincible so far. Man I am looking forward to the quarters at this weight. Also Mocco vs Levy!

Vito delaying Final X match against Jax
Hilton Head Joe replied to okokzach's topic in International Wrestling
So what does it look like for a senior world team member to be wrestling in High School? How on earth is it fair in anyway next year for him or his opponents. Seems like a wasted year when he can clearly win a NCAA title now! -
