Be vigilant about any drastic weight loss attempts. Attended my 50-year high school reunion. The lightweight guys that had plastic suits, spit cups and starvation diets all look horrible. They look twenty years older than they are, bent over, joint pain etc. beyond a typical 68 year old. Let your son eat, grow and burn energy. When needed, 3-5 pounds over time can be accomplished safely. He has a long life ahead of him, good luck. Just an old fart observation.

Jerry White - 177# - Penn State 1976 He was 3rd @ 177 in 1977, I was one of his 23 career pins. -
They have until the 15th to reply yes or no. Seems like a lot of external pressure for a yes. The field will be top heavy with Big Ten teams. Is there latitude in the Big Ten schedule to skip a team they may meet in the duals? Some match ups like Mesenbrink vs. Caliendo four times in one year is a bit much. They could also send their B-Team/Redshirt roster to the duals, a formidable squad, and what if they win?

It is happening … now. Tiny tiers. The rest.

Penn State has 19 branch campus locations. They are looking into closing up to 12 of them. Enrollment is down everywhere. -

Curious to see the range of schools that had AA's the past few years. This year had nineteen with one AA, fourteen with 2 or 3 and the big four with 29 combined. This should be a litmus for concentration of talent ? -
Was MN out of challenge bricks for the Hwt match?

Is the ref obligated to stop the match when the brick is thrown? Most seem to be thrown after they go out of bounds or there is a stoppage. -

True, and integrity. But sooner or later this scenario will be repeated the other way. Sad. -

Perhaps a wrestling version of a " Flat Earther " No possible way to defend a position, just there to be annoying?

I think the above is the most probable outcome. Mesenbrink is my only lock. However, looking at the possible brackets it is not out of the question for PSU to duplicate the 2001 Minnesota team and have 10 AA's and no champion. There are multiple high-end challengers at the top 8 weight classes. Just a thought. -
I started wrestling in 1969. Our goals were to make it to "states". Regardless of plural or possessive, good or bad grammar that was the way we spoke of it. Maybe it was the combined district/region/state tournaments or perhaps Western PA jargon. OK yinz jagoffs !

Does Iowa panic if they DON'T land Bassett
Pin Head replied to Masonbuckeye's topic in College Wrestling
This is true, but what if he got his G.E.D. this spring ? He could be enrolled at the school of his choice in the fall. May depend on timeline and strategy for redshirting and the 2028 Olympic year. With the big dollars he could pay his own tuition and free up a scholarship for one of his friends to join him. So many variables. But I do agree, the odds of him staying put for his entire college career are slim. -

Perhaps in your haste to embarrass me you missed the point of my response. I said if he were alive today. Where else would he have a platform to espouse his nihilistic leanings. It was meant to put him in modern context, not a critique or political statement. -

I am familiar with some, not all of his postures. I do not recall name calling as one of his philosophies. -

Nothing new under the sun. If he were alive today, he would be a tenured professor at an Ivy League school and have a show on MSNBC -
