We have DEI policies where I work. I've been on interview and scoring panels for candidates and we've never made race, gender etc a factor in the hiring.

There are certainly worse places, such as Congo, N. Korea and Somalia. However, if I got to start over from scratch, I'd move to a place like Norway, Sweden, Luxembourg, Canada or Denmark.

My life is fine, and that's why I'm staying. However, if I didn't have roots here and I was younger, I'd leave in a heartbeat. Too much bigotry, hatred, crappy subsidized food (RFK is right about that and fluoride), wasteful spending (e.g. military, homeland security, FBI, cia, etc) and worst of all, right-wing corruption (Musk running the federal govt is a great example). Churches spend their money trying to "save" people. Government actually puts the money to use, in general. Yah, we waste a lot on our military but for the most part the money is being well spent and going back to the people. Churches also don't pay any taxes. The net result is that the rest of us get screwed with higher taxes.

Can't make them leave. Besides, two of them are adults and in college. I'm also married. She has similar feelings but stays here for her kids, parents, etc. We also have good & steady jobs. If we were younger though and without kids, we'd both be out of here by now. We've gone off the deep end to the right.

What's wrong with being a teacher. That sounds like a very pathetic attack. Teaching is one of the most important jobs we have and we don't pay teachers nearly enough respect., or money. This is a case in point.
