  1. My youngest daughter likes rocks too so I gave them to her I think.
  2. Tinguaite. Got a beautiful one from South Dakota several yrs ago.
  3. AI Overview Coastal buildings are adapting to sea level rise through a combination of preventative measures and reactive strategies. These include elevating buildings, using water-resistant materials, implementing flood barriers, and relocating infrastructure to higher ground. Some areas are also exploring managed retreat, where they relocate infrastructure and populations away from high-risk zones. Here's a more detailed breakdown: Preventative Measures: Building Elevation: Raising buildings on pilings or stilts, or using elevated foundations, is a common method to keep structures above potential flood levels. Water-Resistant Materials: Using materials that can withstand prolonged exposure to water, such as treated wood, concrete, or certain types of metal, helps to minimize damage from flooding. Flood Barriers: Installing seawalls, levees, and other barriers can help to protect buildings and infrastructure from encroaching seawater. Setbacks and Zoning: Implementing setbacks from the shoreline and restricting new development in high-risk areas can help to reduce future exposure to sea level rise. Reactive Strategies: Managed Retreat: This involves relocating buildings and infrastructure away from areas expected to be severely impacted by sea level rise. This can include buyouts of properties or relocation programs for residents. Reclaiming Land: In some cases, low-lying land can be raised through "cut and fill" techniques, where soil or rock is moved to elevate the ground level. Infrastructure Upgrades: Existing infrastructure like roads and utilities can be upgraded to be more resilient to flooding, potentially through relocation or elevation. Wetland Restoration: Protecting and restoring natural coastal habitats like marshes and dunes can help to absorb wave energy and reduce the impact of flooding.
  4. Not trying to censor you. It's still dumb to question it. You obviously know nothing about science.
  5. You should read the conclusions of the article. Every university agrees, too. You blow your entire credibility when you even question that.
  6. It's done a lot. New buildings and infrastructure along coastlines are being completed with future sea level rise accounted for. People can make informed decisions before deciding whether to buy those properties along coastlines, or move north or south. Cities like New Orleans and Miami can begin planning for the future. We can make informed decisions re: what we want to do as a society, if anything, about the anthropogenic global warming. We can start planning to grow more crops at higher latitudes, or maybe fewer at lower latitudes. List goes on and on.
  7. I need context. I'm not aware of this claim, which was obviously not mainstream (like the current claims that man is causing global warming). Who said it, what was their qualifications and what was the exact quote because you wingers constantly take things out of context.
  8. Who's "they?" Are you gonna cite another cherry-picked random guy?
  9. I'm not, but I know enough about science in general to defer to those with the most expertise; those with PhDs in climatology. The best authorities are those doing climate research at universities or NOAA. On the other hand, the dumb wingers want to defer to cherry-picked non-climatologists (many of which aren't even scientists at all) that say what they want to hear from Breitbart or Fox News. It's pathetic.
  10. Correct, I'm working in the applied science field. So you're only a scientist if you did "LONG TERM" research?
  11. As indicted above, I did a Masters Thesis
  12. Yes I did a thesis and am a state licensed professional geologist, still working in the field
  13. A geologist is a scientist. Omg are you dense.
  14. Whoever claimed that he said earth would cool 11 degrees is a liar.
  15. Its very different to anybody w very basic math, logic or science background. For example, today was 5 degrees cooler than yesterday. If present trends continue well be below freezing in 10 days. True, technically, but can you see how that is very different from simply saying it will be beloelw freezing in 10 days? It's very basic.
  16. Yes. He said, "if present trends continue..." That's very different from saying it will either way
  17. But you lied. He didn't say the earth would cool by that amount. Liar!!!
  18. Masters in Geology. Yes, I'm a scientist but not close to being an authority on climate. Regardless, the words "if present trends continue" that he provided makes your own claim a total lie.
  19. The statement "if present trends continue" makes it completely different. Today was 5 degrees cooler than yesterday. If present trends continue well be below freezing in 10 days. True, technically, but the context makes it somewhat worthless. Doesn't mean much. You'd have to be pretty dumb to think that means that it WILL happen.
  20. First, he was an ecologist, not climatologist. Second, he said "if present trends continue..." which makes it a completely different claim. Third, he was an outlier even if he was making that claim (which he wasnt). YOURE A TOTAL LIAR AND BUSTED. Has zero relevancy to anthropogenic climate change, which is unanimously accepted by actual climatologists.
  21. You talking about thus? From an article: "In 1970, ecologist Kenneth Watt told a Swarthmore College audience: "The world has been chilling sharply for about 20 years. If present trends continue, the world will be about 4 degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990 but 11 degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age."
  22. He said he'd like to be part of NATO. That's an ask. It's very simple. Never implied he would force it to happen. You did a Google search and cherry picked whatever you could find that used that word but 99% of the statements say he wants it or asked for it.
  23. Then Google the difference between a,demand and want. Countless articles explaining the difference. There are actually multiple differences.
