  1. I’ve been considering who would be able to help wrestling across the country. Greg Hatcher has do so much for Arkansas, and we need more figures like that with the dollars and passion. Unfortunately, Dana white is known for being stingy with his own fighters, I can’t see him being the donor. He could benefit down the line with some sort of wrestling partnerships though, penn state now has an MMA gym on campus, college wrestling produce excellent wrestlers. I hope he would help, but I wouldn’t bank on it. Anyways, plz help papa white!
  2. 4/4 qualifiers from Puerto Rico are from America?
  3. Oh I’m a crypto bro too, no hate from me, I’m here for it!!!
  4. Ben is actually surprisingly level head most of the time for an ex wrestler, ex-fighter, conservative, crypto bro. he has a lot of thinks working against him but he remains logical over emotional, which I can appreciate.
  5. No. I just thought this one was relevant.
  6. So the criteria is to have that countries citizenship? I guess that makes it fine by me, you’re a citizen, you can compete for them.
  7. Betting against him in a match would be silly, with a proper training cycle. Betting against him showing up would be reasonable.
  8. You listen to it, they just talked about transfers, the US not qualifying 2/6 for the Olympics yet, etc.
  9. That’s what I’m saying!!! Like if you were born there, live there, train there, etc. and you just came here for college of course you can and probably should represent your country (think of Echemendia or Bastida, they’re likely going to go rep Cuba post grad if they wish to continue, which I hope they do. Or even Lachlan McNeal for Canada.) But to just be like “on yeah my grandpa was born in Mexico so I want to represent them” doesn’t sit well. I am all for sending US trained athletes everywhere to compete, but there needs to be some way to legitimize the process so it’s not just Russia, the US, etc. sending their guys to rep a smaller or lesser wrestling nation to avoid winning the team spot. Maybe instead of focusing on sending our guys to other countries we should focus on bringing other countries to us to train and send them back home when worlds, Olympics, etc. come around to rep where they’re from.
  10. This is my biggest point of contention. I don’t know what we consider to be a citizen, I don’t care that people go represent other countries but what’s stopping anyone from trying to represent any country? It needs to be stricter, maybe parents born there or similar. I don’t have the answer but I wish I understood it as is.
  11. https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/12251953-2024-big-ten-wrestling-championship-preseeds-are-out Ramos at 125 gets the 1 seed, repping boiler nation well. why does 141 have two 9 seeds?
  12. Just listened to this podcast. Was much better that prior episodes (note: Ollie was not present. Do with that info what you will.) There was good international discussion centered around Pan-Ams and transfers.
  13. Whatever they’re paying you, I’ll pay double! jk but keep us updated! I’ve never done anything like this and would love a crack at it!
  14. I didn’t expect them to be competitive, obviously it requires growth. But also it’s not like we lost a perennial powerhouse. I may have been mean to the Lindenwood team, but I didn’t say anything incorrect.
  15. Holy hell, this is the best thing I’ve ever read on this forum. Great job being able to interpret his manic rants!
  16. I have to preface this by saying I really don’t know anything, these are just my thoughts. Hockey and Squash both have their own governing body at the collegiate level. Wrestling already has the NCWA and NWCA in place, if wrestling loses its varsity status in D1 it could become a self funded club sport. These schools already fundraise and have donor networks to help pay expenses. I don’t disagree that there could be some major shifts, although it’s all speculation at this point, but wrestling at the highest levels in the US would continue to exist in other capacities such as RTCs, clubs, etc. The NCAA model hasn’t been kind to wrestling in quite some time, so why put all our eggs in that basket? It’s simply a known quantity. I wish there were 300 D1 programs with millions of dollars of funding, but that isn’t the case. Our situation also isn’t unique when you look at other sports, the ones making money are few and fair between (football, basketball, maybe a select few others at certain institutions) and even then football has been and will be cut from school due to it’s insane need for scholarships and resources. In my warped opinion it makes more sense for school that struggle at football (PURDUE…) to get rid of the team and pour the millions upon millions of dollars into other sports, I know that’s a pipe dream though, continuing to use Purdue as my example they were remodeling their stadium every year I was there just to go 3-8 and have 25% of seats open. If D1 wrestling ceases to exist there will be 10 other sports in a similar boat such as swimming, diving, gymnastics, track and field, etc. There will be a solution, theres 300,000 HS wrestlers plus millions of other athlete’s playing non-revenue sports and many have hopes and dreams to compete at the next level. The demand for an outlet is there. We’re the only nation with college sports, yet Iran, Russia, Mongolia, Cuba, Japan and many others have top guys/girls that are able to compete with ours. I’m not sure the methods they use to develop and create talent but surely it’s working. This was a long rant, and maybe I’m being naive, but this doesn’t have to be a death sentence, particularly so preemptively. I choose to remain positive in the face of uncertainty.
  17. That’s how I see it, if anything, having a positive mindset is healthier, even if wrong.
  18. Do not put that into the ether…. i get bad feeling when you mention top level wrestlers, transfers, and PSU in the same sentence.
  19. I appreciate the response. I’ve been wracking my brain trying to guess who or what position said person could be in to have opinions about women’s wrestling, d1 wrestling, and the new “super conference” to come from the SEC/Big10 merge. it does appear he’s parroting someone’s opinion, but how credible can one person be unless it’s the president of the NCAA or an athletic director at one of the top athletic schools. thing can and will change, whether bc of the super conference or other. Women’s wrestling is doing fine without NCAA sponsorship, change does elicit panic, but this thread is nothing but speculation.
  20. You’re right, no need to be personal. I just tie a lot of personality, time, value, etc. to wrestling and what you say doesn’t make sense logically that “D1 wrestling is a dead man walking” Why don’t you just name drop and say exactly what was said? I don’t like the vagueness….
  21. I’m really curious his “well connected” people…. Dude has an inflated sense of importance.
  22. Regardless of how good he is I will never forgive the Brands brothers for trying to recruit over him with AJ Ferrari. Glazier did his time as a backup and was undefeated up to that point, that would not sit well with me if I were him. Heck, it doesn’t sit well with me as an Iowa hater. I hope he balls out in the post season! I like the Brands Bros (I know, crazy as an Iowa hater) but that fiasco left a bad taste in my mouth solely bc of Glazier.
  23. Some dude at my BJJ gym was talking about how he watched Okie state vs Iowa and was excited for Big10s. He never even wrestled.
  24. There have been 4 added in the past 4 years… you’re talking out your Debbie-downer little ass.
