  1. Why they showing all the escapes, should have just showed all the takedowns and it would instantly be good(er)
  2. They’re in that room all the time training I bet. Should be a good series and the winner is the front runner for gold in Paris.
  3. A lot of college coaches are, that’s why they all age like shit. Cael is cool as a cucumber and that’s why he’s aging well.
  4. PSU is so good I have to root against them. I also don’t like Truax for transferring there, the rich get richer. all in all penn state is good for wrestling and evolving the sport but I love rooting against them
  5. Oddly enough Joe Pins is 3rd in d3 dominance rankings, but for his absurd number of tech falls not pins.
  6. Start some threads about JUCO guys that could be impactful in a D1 lineup in the future! Spread the good word!
  7. I was thinking, who are some people that are a product of JUCO at big schools? It seems the route for a lot of football and basketball kids without the grades. I believe Cormier started at a Juco(?) and I know Jon Jones won a NJCAA title. any others in recent history?
  8. Hamiti and Caliendo was electric. Hamiti Has such a fun style and doesn’t stop shooting. Never seen him much but I am now a fan! Has he wrestled Messenbrink?
  9. I’ve been considering making this thread. Obviously most people here are here to talk about D1 wrestling at the highest level, but there are hundreds of programs outside of D1 that have talent, resources, great coaching, passion, etc. Does anyone here follow other divisions? I wanted to start this thread to see if there are good resources for following it and supporting it. Additionally there are guys from non-D1 schools that go on and wrestle post collegiately to make world teams. Tervel Dlagnev & Daniel DeShazer come to mind. This is an open topic, I have nothing to add other than they deserve support and recognition as well.
  10. Another Non-D1 guy that was suppose to be a college D1 stud was Blake Rypel, NAIA 7th after being a 2 time indiana state champ and indiana wrestler of the year. Started at IU and finished at LifeU. plenty of drop downs as well as hidden gems. Shit I was D1 and lost to D2,D3, Naia and even a club kid- I was a career backup but there is talent there and I will always be a supporter of non-D1 wrestling even if I’m not the most knowledgeable or biggest fan/follower. they all still do the sport we love(ed) and have their own goals and aspiration inside and outside of sport.
  11. I’ve actually thought is starting a thread to see if anyone follows the other divisions, even if just at a high level. There are clearly levels particularly with only 80 D1/Transitioning programs, but some kids come alive in college and a good D2 program could develop.
  12. My predictions, as a PSU hater and extra big hater if Truax. 125- Smith dec Davis 0-3 133 Van Dee dec Nagao 0-6 141 Barlett dec Hardy 3-6 149 Lovett dec Kasak 3-9 157 Haines dec Robb 6-9 165 Messenbrink maj Taylor 10-9 174 Starrocci maj Wilson 14-9 184 Pinto dec Truax 14-12 197 Brooks maj Allred 17-12 285 Kirkvliet tech Hutmacher 22-12 i think this is extremely optimistic, but I’d love to see PSY lose the close ones.
  13. What is a shoebox bet?
  14. IU is beautiful tbh. However, I was a greens and fairway mower at Ackerman-Allen golf course. Like 4/5 wrestlers were working there actually at different times during the summer. That place is well kept and instantly what I thought of when you mentioned lawns.
  15. There are plenty of non D1 kids and programs that churn out talent. Shawn Streck for example would be a top heavy in D1.
  16. 100000% Princeton isn’t a hard sell for anyone that can get in.
  17. I had a coach pack up and leave one day and it really sucked. Sent out a text that day and was never seen again. Sucks for everyone involved but I don’t think we can blame a coach for finding better opportunities and trying to grow their career and brand.
  18. Yeah he can finish out his NCAA career chasing a championship/more AA finishes and then still have plenty of time to train Greco. Hopefully he can step up his Greco and get the US a medal at worlds and the Olympics!
  19. 133 pounder got whacked with a bong. There’s a thread here somewhere if you want to search. He got pretty ***ducked** up from it.
  20. lucky for you I’m not a Purdue graduate that hates on IU. IU is the cooler do the two schools, Purdue is more dweeby. They also have the edge in wrestling at the moment. Other sports idk and idc about. Congrats on the degrees, I didn’t know they actually have those out at IU I thought it was all block parties and frat houses down in Bloomington. Your two degrees is probably equivalent to my one from Purdue
  21. It’s sucks Princeton is down as they are always a top wrestling Ivy, but it seems as a whole the Ivy League is elevating itself. I love seeing the Ivies do well bc it’s where the brainiac wrestlers end up and these kids need the outlet to succeed at sport and academics and not choosing a state school instead due to lack of possible success.
  22. Dude that was 50 years ago….
  23. I hadn’t thought of that. I figured they were holding him for NCAAs and EIWA. I hadn’t considered holding him for Olympic trials. I’d hate to see that as a college wrestling fan first and foremost, but I also want to see Vito healthy in that trials bracket as a fan of wrestling.
  24. Sorry for the double negative, when I said this: “doesn’t seem to just not give a shit about duals, they just do prioritize them over the post season,” I meant that they do care, just not enough to risk injury or other. I’m on your side; you’re just angry at me for illegally streaming. I like Cornell and wish them the best, I’d much prefer to donate to their RTC that give money to the ACC.
