Ok. So you are cool with everyone that spews hate and murder that then say … oops. Didn’t meant it. That’s all it takes. Fair enough. Seems like the people in the article who are his friends feel the same way. Ready to embrace him. Good guy. And no acknowledgement that statements like these create a hostile school environment. Even if it is a small group.
-
I am mistaken. You are correct. He was proclaiming his desire for all zionists to die. That is not the same. Interesting that you avoided recognizing that this is also hateful and disgusting and creates a hostile environment for other students. Instead you think that my error some how changes the point. Calling me disingenuous. While I was not correct in the wording, the point still is the same. You say you are glad he apologized. You avoided my question about right wing folks that say oops. You feel the same way about them?
-
Ok. So your approach is to trumpet your opinion and spread snippets while avoiding answering questions whose honest answers would be hard to square with your public behavior and stances. Everyone trying to engage with @uncle bernard - pls take note! Don’t waste your time with this intellectual coward.
-
@uncle bernard - you are posting all these snippets. Do you choose to believe all the ones you post, not acknowledging that these are snippets and not showing full context? And perhaps can be misinformation? Haven’t I seen you complain that others blindly believe what they post without recognizing most of the situations have a broader context? And appear to be misinformation? Did you read the NYTimes article today about the guy who proclaimed death to Jews? Doubled down on it. Now says he was wrong. Oops. Should all just forgive him? Like we should forgive right wing protestors that say oops?
-
@uncle bernard - what did I post that suggested they I was accusing any poster here of supporting Hamas? You jumped to that? I guess because you feel you are on the defensive and I am trying to imply you support Hamas. I am not. What I am doing is pointing out the direct guilt Hamas has here. I could not believe it when I saw that there were protesters supporting Hamas after Oct 7. Vile. Evil. Simply pure Evil what they did. Hamas, the elected government of Gaza, brought this down on the people of Gaza ON PURPOSE. There should have been, and should still be mass protests from many of their people AGAINST the atrocities and AGAINST the holding innocent civilians as hostages. They should be seeking to surrender and turn in these pure war criminals that objectively and with purpose, from their leaders down to their troops had the intention, and only this intention, of committing mas war crimes … and then did it. The protestors today are clearly choosing to ignore or belittle the actions of October 7. Israel has the absolute right to protect itself and ELIMINATE Hamas, force unconditional surrender, and then put the war criminals in trial. And yes, unconditional surrender. For now, Hamas continues to fight and hide behind civilians. WHERE ARE THE PROTESTS, WHERE IS THE ANGER from the innocent people, and their allies, that innocents are being used as shields? And again, this talk of Israel committing genocide is ridiculous. Population of Gaza has grown over the years. If Israel wanted to commit genocide the death toll by now would 1 million plus. Fact. On the other hand the chants from Hamas and their supporters, and the ACTUAL ACTIONS THEY TOOK TARGETTING CIVILIANS ON OCT 7 show their desire to wipe out the Jews of Israel. Is that clear enough @uncle bernard?

How anyone … seriously .. anyone …. can support Hamas after what they did, is sickening. I’m ok with supporting the historical claims that Palestinians have made, but supporting Hamas and their actions is disgusting, through and through. And there were many after Oct 7 that did just that. Many with their current chants and protests aren’t simply imploring Israel to protect innocents, they are trumpeting Hamas’ calls … all while Hamas still holds hostages. F’ing sick.

I didn’t read all the pages here. But will just jump in. Hamas, the elected government of the people of Gaza, planned for, prepared for, and then executed a planned invasion of Israel with the sole intent of killing, mutilating, and raping civilians along with taking hundreds of them (old folks, kids, babies, moms) hostage. Doing this by hand, face to face, savagery. Freaking definition of evil. Pure, unadulterated evil. Like freaking sick, disgusting evil. Pure terrorism. Pure targeting of ALL civilians they could find. Picture some group / government / organization doing this to the US. Seriously, picture it. Then, Hamas runs back to Gaza and then hides behind and under civilians. Absolutely on purpose. Thus, clearly violating the ‘rules of war’ over and over again. What did they expect Israel to do? What reaction did they want? This, they wanted this. They purposefully brought this down on the people of Gaza. The people that elected them. The people that did not report that this horror was about to happen (many had to know but kept it secret). And now, Hamas continues to fight. Continues to bring the fury of Israel down on Gaza. Refuses to relinquish all hostages. If Israel wanted to target.civilians and commit genocide, we would be talking about millions dead by now. I feel for the true innocents. I do. But what Hamas did rightly unlocked pure fury and Hamas hiding behind the innocents is the true guilty party here. ‘

Interestingly, applications to Harvard were down 5% this year. That is a lot considering most elite schools that report are showing good growth. Lots of turmoil at Harvard these past several months.

Future coaches should really consider Valenti’s route…

I’m thinking that this is a premature post. Let’s see how he actually does before declaring this a great path. You may very well be right, but given his complete lack of results, can’t tell right now. That said, I get the logic and can see why optimism is very high. -
I see this term, ‘Generational Talent’ thrown around quite a bit. I would suggest too often. What do you all think it means? I think it means the best of the best … the kind of best that you see in a person once every 20 years or so. 20 years being a reasonable time frame for a ‘generation.’ This is a very high bar. Perhaps golf’s Nicklaus and Woods. I want to say John Smith to Jordan Burroughs but there have been some fast followers behind JB. Many seem to think there are generational talents popping up every year. E.g., Referring to Aaron Brooks as a generational talent. To me, that makes no sense. Kind of like how many people (such as my kids) use the word ‘literally’ … they don’t seem to know the meaning of the word. Thoughts?

Very much agree. We were laughing at the whole ridiculousness of the event each time we saw it in a Greco match. Made the style look even worse. I’m in a bad spot, lame as head and arm attempt … I’m saved.

All you said is countered by how scored points and more points and more points. Varied technique. Great pace. Guy is and was stupendous. How awesome would it be to see more and more wrestlers like him. Entertainment through the roof. I thought I saw a social media post by him that was after trials and he had one of his kids and it looked like he was in a barn. Guy looks like he knows he has better things to focus on and cherish now. But I can’t freaking find the post!!

2024 Olympics last chance qualifier
Dark Energy replied to CHROMEBIRD's topic in International Wrestling
Won’t happen but if Destribats blocks the US again, oh man. I feel great about Spencer and Zain. Limited number of studs I’m seeing in the lists and no super studs. -
I started a whole thread on the speed of the reviews, but no one replied. Sad. So I’ll try again … the reviews went pretty quickly with good explanations post review. Great progress on these fronts.

First off - DT is the man. Guy is such a phenomenal wrestler. Have loved watching him. Always must watch. So fluid, such great technique. Living legend. Now - regarding this OTT - I agree with many that he just seemed a bit nonchalant / low energy for match 1. Match 2 had more energy so perhaps he simply lost to a better wrestler that day. I thought perhaps HEW has perhaps crept up. Decided to look at his twitter and he posted 4 days ago that this was his most disciplined prep since Tokyo Olympics. So that is a counter point. In that post he also mentions ‘The grind’ … Can’t expect a ‘Crap this sucks’ post from him prior to OTT. LOL. I bet he will say, eventually, that he put his all into it and just got beat so nothing is taken from AB. But, I am curious to hear some deeper insights from DT.

Non Olympic Weight Trials Predictions?

I believe Truzzcat was thinking toward future years, not this year. -
I believe Green has posted that he is looking forward to going for the 70 kg title.

Lockett, who smoked Shapiro, is a junior? Holy crap that class is stacked.
-
Damn. Kids is incredible. Yet you still have him #2 behind PJ Duke? Seems like a clear #1 in his recruiting class. What am I missing?
-
Will do. But hoping to get a discussion going on this discussion board.

Takes out fellow high schoolers Jax and Luke. Very strong tourney. Hoping folks can add more color — his background and prospects.
