All we need now is Andrew Sparks trolling Starocci to high hell on social media, talking about being the one to snap his 64-match streak 😂

I'm really excited for @cowcards great great grandson posting this question in the trivia thread one day

If no one has ever watched the Rob Rohn Win, I highly suggest you YouTube it. That guy was maybe 30-45 seconds away from getting Teched, and a miracle move changed it all. Worth a watch!

Not a miracle move if you come from the Lehigh Valley where it was invented, mastered, & taught to every 4 year old in preschool!

Also, suprised they didnt address the 2023 season AT ALL (with the exception of saying that when Spencer lost Austin was with him in his room). I feel like there was a lot of things they could've covered but didn't

Agree.  One of the most fascinating parts of their journey as teammates just completely glossed over.  The documentary should've been a 2 or maybe even 3 part mini series

I generally like Rob Koll, but I don't think he would apply this line of thinking to Vito.

I think he would have told Vito he was done after last year.  He would have made the smarter long-term move for Vito, sat him for this year, had him finish his school credits, and be ready for the olympic process.

This year absolutely looks like it took the tread off Vito's tires.

Would it be more accurate to say Koll would be too busy hanging out with boosters and attending fundraisers to have the time to actually have a conversation with Vito?

Porta I’m happy to get banned again to ask you to leave the guy alone. Some of us like his participation. You don’t? There’s a wonderful ignore feature provided by the creators of this site. Why not exercise that option, in fact why not go out and get some fresh air and exercise your body too.

Maybe you can join me right after you wipe Jimmy's glaze off your lips

I don't really disagree.  As I see it, and I'm wildly oversimplifying here, Crookham can deal with Vito's lightning-fast attacks but Fix can't.  Crookham does well against Vito because of his insanely quick reaction time to Vito's insanely quick attacks.  I don't think that will come into play so much when Crookham wrestles Fix, who frankly doesn't attack much against top competition and is more of a counter-wrestler himself.  And although Crookham is fast, he hasn't developed that into the sort of offensive arsenal that Vito has, so I expect him to struggle to score.  In a Crookham-Fix match, I'd expect a low scoring, OT-type affair, where Crookham is a bit faster but Fix has the edge in experience and, perhaps, strength and gas tank.  And if it happens right after Crookham has to deal with Vito, I'd give the edge to Fix.

@Husker_Du, this post is a great example on how we could benefit as a wrestling community having something on par with ESPN or UFC with experts doing video breakdowns/analysis on  potential high profile matchups.

Do not know the bios of the olt timey champs before Sculley, but of the 11 most recent champs, I think five are from the Lehigh Valley (Cruz, Rohn, Lievbermans, and Sculley).  Two guys who were finalists or at least ranked #2 and at that level from Lehigh Valley include Trenge and Mike Brown - not sure if Brown made the finals but know he was very close to NCAA title.

Caruso was a Jersey kid.   Pendleton & Bill Stuart were Philly suburbs prep wrestlers

That was not wrestling.  It was legal, but he did not wrestle anyone.

I'm not saying he did anything wrong, just pointing out it had (unintended) consequences.  You may be okay with the consequences or not care but that doesn't mean they were none.

Some great points made.  We can't ignore the implications of Carter MFF'ing out but at the same time we can't blame him nor Cael.  It's a gray area.  With Suriano leaving we've all heard most of the rumors.  What is the actual truth no one will ever know except for the few participants involved.  We do know Suriano has been gracious towards his former coaches and teammates and I get the sense he would've eventually left PSU regardless of the injury.  It just wasn't his cup of tea.  He's also left Rutgers & Michigan (Cliff Keen).

i find it interesting that no one points at the guys who wrestle him. (why aren't they attacking?)(don't tell me Haines had more attacks than lewan in the final)

and many who wrestle just like him.

one person said in another thread

whether you are 3-24 or 21-3.. haines can take you to OT.

Its easy not to blame the other wrestlers because we all know Lewan's strategy.  Amine has used a similar strategy with his opponents as has Beau Bartlett.  Circle, square up, hand fight, stay within the center of the cylinder.  Plod along, every once in a while dive in on the legs, but mostly try to score on counters and reattacks.

As to the Levi comment he's nearly doubled his bonus rate this year and will most likely continue to  increase that stat throughout his career.  And yes Haines had more attacks in the finals.  That was a bizarre statement

Of course they would…anything to help out PSU.  LOL I kid, they deserve to have it there again before 2035.

Matter of fact, this tourney should never be held outside of places like, Iowa, PSU, Ohio St. Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska and maybe Rutgers to hit that NJ market.  The big ten is doing themselves absolutely no favors by holding this amazing tourney in places that basically don’t care about wrestling.  You could make arguments for teams like NU and Wisconsin but holding this at Purdue, Michigan State and Maryland is stupid.  So many empty seats and lost money.

I've only heard positive feedback about the job Maryland did hosting and that the turnout was solid

Whoops, forgot about that.  Well if Beard takes out Brooks in the semis, then maybe he can hope Hidlay turns into the Hidlay when he wrestles Brooks and forgets his offense.

Brooks and Beard won't be on the same side of the bracket.  If it were to somehow happen Brooks by major

125 who knows that's all matchup dependent

133 naggo should aa but he's been up and down

141 beau has shown to have 0 offense. A guy like mathews could knock out bartlett out real soon.

    149 1 -2

Are you officially on the record that Nebraska will out place and out score PSU at 125-149?

I legitimately don’t know the answer here, but Cael brings the Utah brand of “glory to god” into the room.  Is there any sort of requirement within Mormonism that says, for example, in interviews or similar situations athletes are required to include a statement like that?  Like are they actually coached into saying that?

If that's true Bo Nickal never got the memo
