I agree Vito did not look like the top tier contender that he is, and I agree it is a bright spot for the future for the US internationally. I do disagree that it doesn't show how good Jax is.
-
I’ll be happy with/for either, both are really exceptional individuals.

Streaks is a triggering word for some of us that went to high school in Brandon Florida.
-
A lot of great ones 1-2 punches, but throwing some love to a smaller program in Edinboro, Aaron Schopp and Mitchell Port were pretty dang good.
-
Dan Gable qualifies as one!
-
2,2,3,2 so close.

Most likely not me looking up 50+ years of NCAA brackets! I'll say it is pretty cool to see dozens of names pop up again over and over through the decades and continuing today, whether it be brothers, cousins and nephews. There really are some "wrestling royalty" families out there.

Gary McCall - 1990 1rst rd - Steve Martin (8) QFs - Doug Wyland (1) Cons Semis - Jeff Prescott (7) 3rd Place - Doug Wyland (1) This was fun to figure out while the better half evoked executive power over the TV to binge an 1800's based British drama.
-
I think he beat 4: R16 - (1) Reggie Wright Consi Qrts - (6) Eric Schmiesing Consi Semis - (2) Jared Lawerence 3rd place - (8) Jared Frayer - who previously beat him in the quarters
-
Mike Zadick in 2001 I believe is one of them.
-
Tariq Wilson was close as well with 3 wins the year when he almost beat Seth Gross in the Semis. Same year as Conel's run, that was a super fun NCAAs.
-
Likewise. I’ve gone to 9 straight NCAAs with my group of wrestling friends and we plan on continuing that trend. The one we were going to skip was Minneapolis thinking it wouldn’t be a great venue for spectators so we planned for the Olympic Trials at PSU instead that year. Covid had other plans… I still have the tickets for trials in a cabinet as a keepsake, maybe a prop for a younger generation to tell a story for how crazy that time was and we couldn’t even watch wrestling. I will be getting my eyes checked before NCAAs in Minneapolis for sure.

Anyone hear something crazy recently?

Good point, saw the date but not the year. -

Palacio tweeted about it if you want to check there. -
Haha been in the DC area for the last 15 years myself, but did go to high school there with one of Vak’s favorite wrestlers.
-
5/5 so far Vak, good picks!

I thought CStar would take him to it, first stall was warranted, second was a weird one. Would’ve won with riding time without the stalling point but yikes against a freshman versus a 4x champ to win like that.

Coming back from injury late in the season
TampaRyley replied to BuckyBadger's topic in College Wrestling
I think Cody Brewer was a similar case in 2015, I believe it was injury that caused him not to get many matches, before going on a tear and winning as the 13 seed. -

That NF at the end was a bit questionable IMO, but good win for Sprat. He looks good.

It does seem like a simple idea to just keep it all together and think why even do that, but I can understand that in the moment the adrenaline is going and emotions are high. I once tossed my mouthpiece of all things to my coach after state finals one year, he probably would’ve preferred the headgear.

I really thought that looked like at least 2 back points for Downey before the reversal, but must be wrong as the refs reviewed and the flo guys didn’t think it was either.
-
They showed a few different angles of it where I at a point thought that’s clearly JBs points or, then on another view, yeah Chance stopped the momentum and took him over for his points. I have the same qualms with international where so much can be open to interpretation based on how you see it. I believe the challenge ref in this case was Sammy Julian; one of the best US refs, who I trust to get the call right.
