To both of these, I think Zepeda can definitely beat out Lemley. The entire time since he entered the portal he has told everybody he's going 165. This was well-known, and public. All the normal guys you see (WIllie, Basch, Pyles/Flo guys) have been saying he wants to go 165.

The point I'm making (not well apparently) is it's ridiculous to try to downplay Crookham's wins. That said, Vito is undoubtedly a bad ass, and I picked him to beat Crookham all three times they wrestled.

I believe you. I'm not sure what that has to do with the NCAAs from 1.5 years before thay, but either my point was to mock the idea that Crookham only beat him due to injuries, and then Vito beat him when fully healthy. When one of Crookham's wins was 2 weeks before the loss.

The new most quoted man in wrestling media, Brian Swaw, claims Iowa is pushing for Nico Provo which, if true, is interesting and may comment on the health of Leo Deluca.

I wonder if the volatility, his fault or not, given his brief stint in Iowa City and even briefer stint in Madison limited his options more than believed. Either way, kid showed this year he belongs, although I'm interested to see how his height affects him in the big boy weight!

Not a Michigan fan, but I disagree on Catrabone. Lemley probably, but he's also way more accomplished than VV or Estrada. Again, I think Zepeda goes to Michigan, but it's definitely more full in his weight range.

I think there is very obviously some selection bias in the coaching ranks.

If Zepeda comes in, he's immediately the presumptive starter at one of the weights, Block at the other.

That would be my guess. I would predict Michigan as well, but ruling Iowa out in this scenario seems silly given their willingness to spend, and nobody forced Zepeda to go to Iowa City or to say the choices were down to two, plus that one poster was obnoxious. Things change. Garvin to Michigan was a done deal last summer: didnt happen. Endene to Iowa State this year was a done deal from the moment the Iowa thing fell apart, but now it seems like it's not happening. Again, things change once the guys start hearing offers/looking at other wrestlers movements. As to Iowa's 149/157 recruits, those guys aren't on campus for 2 years, plus the possibility of a redshirt. Much less of a logjam.

Not sure that's the part to be bothered by. The team is currently coached by two of the most aggressive wrestlers in history, and...well... Plus Penn State: while Cael was obviously an offensive monster, it's not like Casey Cunningham or Cody Sanderson or Jake Varner were offensive dynamos. They were good wrestlers, though, and they, especially Casey, are apparently EXCELLENT coaches. So I'm not as worried about Warner's style. The problem, to me, is the insistence on staying within the Iowa bubble. Although there's some indication that they legit were in on on Yianni. A somewhat connected poster on the Iowa boards thought Yianni was a done deal, and it appears that the shifting dynamic at Cornell may have been a product of Cornell catching wind and making room for their alumni legend.
