Ruiz has been to waiting to break through all year I have felt. He takes out Downey and Lockett, I think he could make a good run at Ncaa's.

Duke majors over Cannon and Taylor were pretty big

Duke is going draw shapiro if I had a guess. Wonder what seed they will give him at Ncaa's will be a interesting battle.

Ruiz's hand fighting is elite in all three positions. His grip strength has to be something else. As long as he can keep people off his legs and stay off his back he can wrestle with anyone.

In a single match he can wrestle with anyone. In a tournament setting he has to run the gauntlet.

Big 12 shows he can get things done but would like to see a little more data and brackets before handing him a crown.

As it stands in my eyes, blood round is the floor and would be  disappointed if he is not on podium. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a semi

Me either I think the highest on the podium he can get is 3rd and lowest is blood rounds.

I'll Start

#11 Jude Swisher over #2 Meyer Shapiro. Big L for Shapiro wonder what seed he is going to get now.

That is a big leap for Swisher for sure.

I think Cannon did a fantastic job for a guy coming off knee surgery who'd been off six weeks.  Clearly had to push through a lot of fatigue.  Beating a tough Catrabone in the cons semis was a heckuva win.

Wasn’t he in the hospital with a serious tumor issue years back?

He had cancer a number of years ago.  The fact that he's competing at an elite level after that is bonkers.  Props to BC.

Not to take anything away from Duke's impressive performance last weekend but thinking like a sailor, I'm not sure Cannon has his sea legs back yet and don't know if he has enough mat time to peak in Cleveland. Really would have liked to see this match at the national duals to see how it shook out.

With that said I think Duke wins the majority of match ups in a series, but at nationals you only have to beat someone once on the front side.

Yes as to tumors and kidney issues.

backside match but connor euton got the biggest win of his career over ryder downey 13-12 in a barnburner

The win was huge for Euton as to his ranking and it avenged a dual loss in February. Of note he also avenged a February loss to Mizzou in the conso semis. Would have liked to see his rematch against Lockett wrestled without interruption. He might not have won on the front side but between concussion protocol and a tornado break he didn't respond well to the restarts and lost some of his own momentum both breaks

If he can keep guys off his legs and finish in bounds he can stack some wins next weekend. Injuries have disrupted his development in college.  I think he is wrestling his best right now and is healthy as he has been.

Cannon was definitely not 100%.  I'm shocked he made it back to 4th.  Three more matches (one DEF).  He was a bit gassed against Webster.   He will be better in two weeks.
