Everyone is saying that PJ Duke and Rocco Welsh are getting screwed because they have to wrestle Cannon and Ferrari respectively in the quarters (instead of the finals) of the Big 10 tournament.

But I'm wondering if Cannon and Ferrari are happy or sad about their seeds?  I guess it depends on whether they are fully healthy and conditioned.

Honestly, I doubt they care about their seeds...they're going to have to beat everyone sooner or later...

If Bo Bassett doesn't ever do anymore than AA two times I will delete my whole ass account.....WrestlingRash sucks

+1 I don't think I've ever heard a high level athlete complain about seeds/rankings/other numbers or express a desire for an easier path to a championship.

There’s no way Duke is getting screwed faces a hobbled Cannon…

Rocco is going to wrestling the same no matter who he faces with a pulse…take no shots basically for three periods and then get it done at the end.

You are thinking of the Ohio State Rocco.  He has legitimate coaching now and is fairly offensive.

He wasn’t against Angelo or any of the matches ive watched him wrestle…granted I haven’t watched all of his matches but quite a few

He's won over 61% of his matches this year by bonus points so he's not exactly doing nothing for 3 periods and winning all his matches 2-1 TB.

Yea he destroys lower level guys…get him on the mat with half decent guys and he’s just out there running the same playbook. It works…so I mean kudos for that I guess

The next wrestler who beats the brakes of Angelo he will back up behind the scorer's table before giving up more tds.

What about how Ohio State coached up a lowly replacement and had Rocco beat the whole match except for the very end.  Shouldn't the awesome PSU coaches have been able to coach up Rocco to a major against an inferior athlete and coaching staff?

Yea bringing up the likes of Sam Goin, Joe Curtis etc does nothing for me…I probably should have specified the “with a pulse” comment. The only win there that’s impressive is against Allred…

Also, not an Iowa fan at all but pretty sure Angelo wrestled through injury all year and those are solid wins given the circumstances. Sorry I’m just not much of a cherry picker of stats and such…I take a more realistic approach. Rocco gets the wins sure…I’m just not impressed at all. If they don’t let him get away with stalling at NCAAs he won’t win…

Ok who impresses you at 184 then?

Last year his bonus % was 86%.   This year it is 61%

I think the point is that Rocco's style is much improved. The top 5 at 184 are all close, and any of them can likely win. Their matches against each other will be tight.

But compare Rocco's matches against #6-15 versus Angelo's. Small sample size, but it is clear who is being more aggressive and scoring more points.

Also, I am begging people to please watch the matches. Angelo has one of the most frustrating styles to watch, and it bears out in the scores of his matches. Rocco has wrestled completely differently from him. Their match together was a tough watch, but I mostly blame that on Angelo.

Little bit of a difference wrestling a BIG schedule vs wrestling 3rd and 4th stringers at a couple of opens but you knew that.

He only has one bonus inside the top 10.   And regular decisions against #9,8,18,10, and 28.

The comment you’re replying to…I mean I literally said Allred was an impressive win. But he’s still not a true title contender but outside of Angelo he’s the closest thing on his resume…

I already said he’s good and gets his wins…but none of you guys are going to convince me he’s something he’s not…

Yes, I get you aren't impressed by Rocco. I'm just asking who at 184 are you actually impressed by?

To be honest the whole weight class is a bit of a downer to me…I will say though McEnelly is a dude I wouldn’t want to see in the post season and Sinclair…I mean there’s a real chance one of those two will be your national champ

What is impressive to you about McEnelly and Sinclair though?  Do you realize both of those only have 1 bonus win over a top 20 wrestler all year?  And both have taken losses this year.

You say Rocco barely scores against top guys...yet he has 4 bonus point wins over guys ranked in the top 20 on WS.  McEnelly has 1 and Sinclair has 1.

I agree that Sinclair and McEnelly are tough but it's weird to say you think Rocco isn't impressive because he doesn't score a lot versus top guys...and yet he's scoring more bonus wins over top guys than Sinclair, McEnelly and Ferrari combined.

Ok you’re not even trying to have any kind of normal reasoning…McEnelly has only faced (5) top 20 guys…two of those matches are Fishback…so (4) different guys. One of those guys is also Sinclair (his lone loss). He hasn’t had half the opportunities to show Rocco has to get those “impressive” wins. Rocco has and it’s blah.

But as long as where omitting details, context and trying to manipulate “statistics”…I noticed Shane Cartagena-Walsh was in there as a common opponent for McEnelly and Rocco…McEnelly Tech’d him…

I heard downcast. Perhaps as far as the word melancholy.

Where are you getting your numbers?

McEnelly beat Shane Cartagena-Walsh 15-7. Is that a tech now?

Welsh beat Shane Cartagena-Walsh 13-3.  Last time I checked winning by 10 points is more than winning by a 8 point "tech".
