Your blame is misplaced and should be redirected to the IOC which is a bastion of fiscal responsibility and top-tier ethical behavior that is rivaled only by FIFA.

It's also rivaled by the corruption in CA state governance.

IOC and Cali are run by the same kinds of people.

How can it possibly be that 14 months down the road we are not seeing new homes going up in Pacific Palisades? How?

Joplin Missouri was leveled by a tornado and virtually entirely rebuilt in swift fashion.

No shit.

So you are saying the "flyover states" (such an elitist pejorative btw), don't produce a tremendous amount of food as a whole?  Because that was the question, if you go back a couple posts.

I live in Chicago, Illinois and was born in smalltown IL. I have travelled the world and lead a global division based in techno economics. I have seen it all with my own two eyes, and yes, I am absolutely judging my unelite local farmers that ask for socialist handouts when they get what they voted for. California is nothing more than a boogeyman for suckers who still have cable and watch Andrew Tate clips.

i am an idiot on the internet

Uh-huh.  I'm sure you've done all those things.

Even if you have, you clearly learned next to nothing.  You also clearly have never lived in CA and experienced the obscene levels of bureaucracy and corruption there.  Only a complete fool would classify it as a "boogeyman".  Stop arguing from a place of extreme ignorance.

No shit.  The first reference to "food" was made...by you.  Since we are now talking financials, now compare the amount of food produced by any of these states to the amount of federal tax money paid (by California) or received (most of those "flyover states").

The "flyover" reference, you obtuse, elitist clown.

What? California is the country's top agricultural state and the fifth largest supplier of food and agricultural products globally. Half the produce grown in the US comes from CA and they're the biggest producer of milk and the second largest producer of cheese. If the state suddenly stopped producing food, we probably wouldn't starve but our meals would be mostly bread, rice, and grains and a lot more expensive. Farms from other states would also be starved of ag subsidies since that money basically flows from CA to the Federal government to them, so the "tremendous amount of food as a whole" wouldn't be so tremendous. I like your wrestling takes because they're grounded in facts and sharp observations, but you gotta look at the data on this one, man.

I appreciate your compliment.

I am aware of what CA produces.  I am an east coaster, but didn't like the dismissive "flyover states" references.  All I said was that the Midwest produces food, and quite a bit.    And they do.  I never said "the most food."

And there is no talk of a boycott of the Olympics, so this is a very weird thread.

California is by far the greatest food-producing state in the country.  By far.

As for that ruinous economy:

oof.  I'd never figured an Ivy Leaguer would use Nominal GDP as an indicator

There was a saying growing up in PA (maybe in Illinois too) "I've never met a farmer that wasn't a communist"

Note: Before anyone flips out it was a playful jab that even farmers would say to one another.

CA produces 1/3 of the nation's vegetables and 3/4 of the nation's fruits and nuts. I can hear Beavis and Butthenad laughing at the 3/4 of the nation's "fruits and nuts"...
