What do you guys think is the most open weight class that anyone can win?

I think for me its 133 or 157 or 285.

How many do you think can win 157?

After the recent 2-1 close match over Sealy, I’m no longer sure PJ takes the gold. Agree on 133 and 157.

So you have just stated what I think is going thru mattramosjr's mind as well. I wouldn't draw to many inferences into these PSU vs. PSU  matches. A couple of them looked like DGI "Don't Get Injured" matches.

It’s possible - you may be right.

It’s not even Thanksgiving yet, alot feel fairly open. 141 seems Mendez’s to lose. 165 seems all MM, but Caliendo now has company with Lockett in guys who might hold MM to a DEC/MDEC. 174 seems fairly in Levi’s favor. The rest? 125 is back to who’s #1 this wk? 133 is a meat grinder, you might have 8-12 kids with a shot, you’re gonna have studs who don’t AA, probably a handful of them. 149, seems Larkin is getting a lot of buzz. 157 has a handful, PJ is a freshman, stuff happens. 184 has a solid 6 guys or so. 197 Barr is injured so does that have implications come March and opens things up? 285 has a few, maybe 3-5 traditionally lighter guys in the mix.
I guess for me, 133, followed by 184. No idea how those will end up and come mid March I still might not have a good feel for it.

133 - returning champ with Byrd, Blaze is the next most likely to win, followed by Davino.  I think the rest are dependent on a real setback from the top 3.  Maybe you throw in Larkin and Frost but seems a bit early.

Likely Contenders: (3) Byrd, Blaze and Davino

157 - returning champ with Taylor, but he already has 2 losses.  Could have an injury or something that we don't know about.  He deserves consideration and will likely be where he needs to be in March.  Next contenders are freshman phenoms Robideau and Duke.  Duke has several freestyle wins over Robideau, so I give him the nod.  Beyond that, Cannon and Shapiro look to be the biggest threat to win.  The remainders seem like strong AAs but unlikely title threats.

Likely contenders: (5) Duke, Robideau, Cannon, Shapiro, Taylor

285 - no returning champ, Bastida returning from medical redshirt, Feldman improved, Ferrari up a weight and new school, Kueter with hip trouble and then a bunch of good AA guys but unlikely title threats.  I'm curious to see how Braxton Amos wrestles at heavyweight deep into the season - I think he will finish top 4.

Likely contenders: (4) Bastida, Ferrari, Feldman, Amos

All that being said, I think 125 is the most wide open weight class:

125 - returning champ with Robinson who already has a loss, Lilledahl has a loss, Bouzakis has a loss, Spratley has 2 losses, Volk has a loss, Ventreska has 2 losses

Likely contenders: (8) Robinson, Lilledahl, Bouzakis, Spratley, Volk, Ventresca and I'll through in two wild cards with Stevo Poulin and Marc-Anthony McGowan

Given that Kueter is 3-0 against Feldman I would say that he belongs in the list of contenders at 285. If Trumble returns near full strength he should be a contender as well.

I think only 3 weights have clear favorites. MM at 165, Mendez at 141, and Haines at 174.  Out of those MM is the surest, of course, anything can happen in one match.  The most wide open 125 and HWT.  184 there are 4 guys, all those semis should be very competitive. 157 should be interesting, Landon looks good, but PJ has been beating him. Cannon and Watters could also win it. I do not see Taylor repeating. 133 should also be crazy competitive.
