Argument to moderation (false compromise, middle ground, fallacy of the mean, argumentum ad temperantiam) – assuming that a compromise between two positions is always correct.

: The ACA was a compromise to lower health care costs by spreading the cost out to more people.

From AI.

But does anyone else see that pattern? For RV to say that unions are not powerful is just denying reality. $742 Million to influence themselves lol (kinda)

Determining the "most powerful" union for lobbying is complex, as power isn't solely defined by spending and can involve factors like membership size, strategic political organizing, and influence over key legislation.

However, based on reported political and lobbying expenditures, public-sector unions collectively spend the most money, with the National Education Association (NEA) often ranking as one of the largest individual spenders.

Key Unions in Lobbying and Political Spending

1. The Largest Individual Spender

The National Education Association (NEA), the largest teachers' union, frequently ranks as one of the single largest labor union spenders on political activities and lobbying in the United States.

  • In a recent reporting period (Sept. 2021 through August 2022), the NEA spent nearly $42 million on self-reported "Political Activities and Lobbying," plus millions more on contributions and grants to political organizations.

2. The Collective Power of Public-Sector Unions

When considering collective political spending (including lobbying, campaign contributions, and political action committee (PAC) funds), the largest public-sector unions—like the NEA, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU)—demonstrate enormous financial power.

Collectively, these four major public-sector unions spent over $700 million on election-related activity in the 2021-2022 election cycle. This high level of spending gives them substantial influence at the federal, state, and local levels of government.

That’s to keep your whining ass shut. You want off this ranch, you got it. I’ll drive your ass to the train station myself.

Since at least the 1920s if not earlier.  They have served their original purposes.  Now they’re political organizations

How does a politician raid a pension fund?

Let's cut the crap. Youre playing dodgeball. When should workers or retirees not get the pension they were promised?

If there is even a small chance that raising taxes on mostly non bus riders(I’m guessing is the plan) would benefit the city and those non bus riders more than $9B, what is the harm in trying it?
Like the Kansas Experiment 10-15 years ago. Let them enact all their fiscal policies and see if it works. Then you can have an example of how raising or in this case cutting taxes certain ways does not work.
