U20 86kg Final- Max McEnelly vs. Bozigit Islamgereev (UWW)

Period 1:
Tying up & hand fighting. Islamgereev pushes forward a bit. Max with some fakes, then they tie up again. Collar ties & pushing in the center of the mat. They break & go right back to the tie up. Islamgereev gets a passivity warning. Back to tying up & pushing. Max shoots for a low leg, but can't finish. Passivity warning #2 on Islamgereev. He goes on the clock. More tying up & pushing. Max reaches for a leg, but doesn't get close. Islamgereev shoots for a low leg, but Max circles away. Max gets a shot clock point, 1-0. Max shoots & gets in deep, but Islamgereev somehow evades the takedown. Max keeps coming & takes Islamgereev out, 2-0. Back to neutral. Tying up & pushing again. Islamgereev shoots & gets in deep, but Max fights him off. More pushing & tying up. Max gets a passivity call & the period ends.

Period 2:
Back to action & straight to tying up & pushing. Max drops in on a low leg. He elevates the leg, but Islamgereev kicks free. Back to tying up & pushing in the center. Islamgereev shoots, but Max circles away. Back to tying up. Max reaches for a leg, but doesn't commit. Islamgereev reaches for a leg, but can't finish. Max immediately re-attacks & gets a TD, 4-0. No turns, back to neutral. Islamgereev pushes forward. Max circles back to center, 1:11-left. Islamgereev shoots. Max counters & finishes another TD, 6-0, no turns. Back to neutral. Islamgereev pushes forward. Max snaps & circles back to center. Pushing & tying up again. Islamgereev reaches for a leg, but can't get there, 30-sec left. Islamgereev shoots, Max counters & adds another TD, 8-0. Max shoots, but can't finish & that's how it ends.

And again, could have easily been SIX if Lilledahl opted to try U20.

Men's freestyle is done... tomorrow greco roman begins.

The Thursday schedule:

3:00 am: Women's Freestyle 50-53-72 & Greco 60-82 Qualification Rounds; Women's Freestyle 55-62-65-76 Repechage

9:45 am: Women's Freestyle 50-53-72 & Greco 60-82 Semifinals

11:00 am: Women's Freestyle 55-62-65-76 Medal Matches

If he starts this season, there's some talent at 133/141 but we also have to watch where Forrest ends up weight wise.

Both Blaze and Forrest almost have to bulk to 141/149 so they are not too undersized for 65 in '28.   There really could be a case where one or both are World Champs and one is an Olympic Champ while still in college and one never wins an NCAA title.

Ohio accounted for 3 of the 61kg wrestlers:  Blaze (US/Perrysburg), Brown (Canada/St. Eds), Ayoub (Puerto Rico/Dublin Coffman).  Looked like the Ohio state tournament out there.
