Put aside the matches that were just mismatches at 125 and 184 and the difference of this dual was just smart wrestling vs dumb wrestling!

Smart wrestlers tonight:

- Woods 141 (used his length perfectly to completely shut down Bartlett)

- Murin 149 (great defense and riding)

- Haines 157 (avoided the Siebrecht funk)

- Kennedy 165 (perfectly countered Facundo's wide open style with the underhook)

- Dean 197 (took the advantage on top where he knew Warner has PTSD)

- Kerk HWT (didn't gas himself out)

Dumb wrestlers tonight:

- 133 Teske (wrestled well until the last 15 seconds of the match, takes a crappy shot and gets pinned)

- 174 Brands (for getting indignant about Starocci running for the last 15 seconds of a match in which Brands didn't attempt a TD for the first 6:45)

The funny thing is if Assad goes at 184 Iowa probably has a real chance to win the dual

Say the score, clown: PSU 23- Iowa 14.

Now, tell me how that swing works that gives Iowa the chance. Does Assad beat Aaron Brooks?

There's also smart and dumb commenting.

Claiming that if Assad goes, Iowa has a "real chance to win" is an instance of the latter.

Assad either loses by a major or a decision.  Either way, he doesn't win and Iowa also doesn't win.

Penn State's back up 125 might arguably have wrestled "smart".

He doesn't get pinned (a rarity given Lee's recent wrecking ball path).

And he uses his length to get a pretty immediate take down on Lee and also puts him on his back with a cradle.

Five points for Iowa instead of six and it takes away a possible criteria win.

Smart team management by Cael, et. al.

Smart coaching.  Pulling Haines's shirt.  Putting in a long legged and long armed sub at 125.

And having his murderer's row ready to pull out the win.

I was quite surprised to hear that Cael's record at PSU vs. Iowa is now 6 wins against 5 losses.
