Hmmm.  So maybe it wasn't about being good virologists . . .   Fauci slipped when he quite rightly said masks are not useful but then changed his story.  After that the govi - medi-industri-media complex was in lockstep.

It didn’t drive mutations for covid.  The most dangerous strain, Delta, was first noted in India when very few had been vaccinated.
