I’m not really into football myself, but over the last two days, it’s been a hot topic on Iranian social media. At the end of the match, Trump and the FIFA president handed out the awards and posed for pictures with the players and the referee. The ref, Alireza Faghani - who’s Iranian - smiled while shaking Trump’s hand and stood next to him for a photo. Now the pro-regime crowd in Iran is going after him and Iran’s state-run media have been attacking him hard. Some even say he shouldn’t have shaken hands with Trump at all.. On the other hand, most people believe he was just following protocol. Trump himself has also been criticized worldwide because he spoiled Chelsea’s celebration by being in all the photos and videos. Now Chelsea has to Photoshop him out to get rid of him.
