Since it sounds like you were at least familiar with her prior to the documentary release, do you know anything about it's backstory?

Notably, how it was financed, and how did such a complete nobody - whose story isn't even interesting*, come to the attention of such a seemingly 'high end' film crew?

* beyond true crime fans' potential interest in her mother's murder, and how long Eve was subsequently alone with her body.

I assume she sold somebody a complete line of **** about how good she was. Because I can't imagine somebody who is that terrible at wrestling would be worth following around for 5 minutes. She repeatedly claims she was "invited" to the US Open. By who? I don't think anyone sends an invite for it. Maybe USA Wrestling sends an email to all eligible members, but that's not exactly an invitation.

She isn't really interesting since she mostly talks about herself. As far as her life before wrestling, she claimed she found an underground fight club on Craigslist. I think we can all read between the lines on what she was really doing.

I wonder when Eve or somebody who is "totally not her" will show up here to say something like:

-You're just hating on her because she's a woman.

-At least she's trying.

-You shouldn't be mansplaining.

-Who is she hurting by wrestling?

-I bet she could beat you.

-Stop being jealous of her.

Definitely not going with 1, 3, 5 or 6... but I DO have to say... I'm not sure why people care so much!

This is a girl who Dad(presumably... I default to the Dad, but it could be the Mom) shot his wife and then hit Conrol/Alt/Delete on himself... and she knows she's not good, she's just trying something.

She was terrible, BUT...at least she's trying(there's 1) and who is she hurting by wrestling(there's the 2nd)?

Raygun used her Marriage, husband to take another deserving person's spot on the team, and then just embarrassed an entire nation. If Crocodile Dundee came out now, nobody would care, but she cost Australia ALL their swagger. But a sad white girl who is REALLY bad at Wrestling losing two quick tech's?

It's funny, but I'm not really outraged about it. It actually reminds me of a story. My Dad used to always screw with me and say, "did you see the kid from Pennsylvania who transferred to____" High school, that was always in our conference. And he'd say he was a 2X place winner, a runner up and a Champ. And my Jr year, there WAS a kid who transferred from PA, and this time it was my coach(who my Dad got in on the joke...and who you wouldn't think would screw with me like that) And I'm thinking....'great, this was supposed to be an easy season.'

So I get him first round and he is...awful. Like...shoots in, falls to his back bad. I think he'd have ended up on his back losing his balance just on a penetration step.

So I'm talking to him after the match, and I'm asking him...'so....you Wrestled in Pennsylvania? What level?' And he just says, 'oh, no, I never wrestled before today.'

By maybe someone should tell me why I should hate Eve Barrington so badly!

Nothing in this video bothered me, I had a good laugh. People have implied that she led others to believe she had some feel good story and was actually good in order to raise money, this would be a messed up move

Pretty much her whole thing is to sell herself as some kind of badass role model athlete. But she's none of those things. If she didn't have "sponsors" who fund her yearly vacation to Las Vegas that coincides with the US Open, she wouldn't go. I would guess she does other things off the books to make money, like her "Craigslist fight club" days, which we can figure out what that is. But all of it feeds her image as some kind of celebrity.

I thought that was just an assumption...

Why is "Craiglist fight club" in quotes? You really think she went over there as a prostitute?

And it's not a very good job of selling herself as a badass role model. She says she lost that fight that you're dubious about and she talks about how inexperienced she is in Wrestling.

I think we all know what someone answering and ad for something like that on Craigslist really is about. If you see any of the interviews or any time she gets profiled says, she brings up how she is this tough person who competes in combat sports.

Ok...well, in fairness, I have no knowledge of her beyond what I saw in this video and she just seemed... frankly a little pathetic.

I think you're jumping to a conclusion with the Craigs List Comment, but...I don't know. I've honestly never used Craigs List for anything....however... I AM learning via intramatwrestle how to find prostitutes. I even know some of the lingo now. Just looking for a QV...(well, that's the extent of the terminology that I've learned).

What did I just watch? It's been a while. I hope this girl has found her identity.

She showed up again at the Open this year to go 0-2 in under a minute total. She definitely likes the attention.

Craigslist used to be the wild West. You could find practically anything there. The problem is it wasn't regulated much, if at all, and people got up in arms that it contributed to things like prostitution, child trafficking, drug dealing, etc. But most of the ads were for other things. But that was where shady porn producers and other "adult" services used to advertise and recruit. After a while, a prosecutor in California thought it'd be a great idea to threaten Craigslist, so they took all those kinds of ads away and they went to Backpage.com, which was owned by two local guys who ran a chain of weekly alternative papers.
