Does this dude google his name like everyday or something?  Lol, that must be how he gets his embellishment skills

That's what narcissists do.

I was looking into this HOF and their credentials. Does anyone know what exactly self-identified means in this context? Does this mean you claim and you are a member of one of the recognized groups?

I was wondering, so he’s claiming to be both a “North American Indigenous” person, and from Cape Verde?  I’m no geography or history expert, are there many North American Indigenous people in Cape Verde, off the coast of Africa?

I don't think he's claiming to be from Cabo Verde, not Cape Verde. He got citizenship by descent. Just like how Myles Amine isn't from San Marino, or Gennady Tulbea isn't from Monaco.

But isn’t “by descent” also how he’s claiming to be an indigenous person?  I guess it could be one from his mom and one from his dad…

Being indigenous just means you have a family lineage that can be documented and enough of your parentage is indigenous or native or whatever. A coach I know one of his parents is half native of some tribe, so because of that he's an enrolled tribal member who gets certain benefits. As far as I know he's never lived on a reservation or really done anything with the tribal community besides become an enrolled member. So I assume that Wesley is in a similar boat, he has some familial connections and claims that. Then again the hall of fame does say "self identity" so maybe they've never asked him to prove it or the records that prove it got lost or the building they were in burned down.

🤣🤣🤣

Cabo Verde IS Cape Verde!

"Cape" is the anglicized version of the Portuguese "Cabo."

The name was officially changed.

“In 2013, the country's delegation informed the United Nations that only Cabo Verde and not other translations should be used for official purposes.”

Insert catchy tagline here.

Right... that's not officially changed.  Not changed at all.  Not since 1444.

They just don't want people using any name other than "Cabo Verde" for official purposes.  That would be like Germany insisting on "Deutschland;" Japan insisting on "Nippon;" etc.

It has been Cabo Verde since 1444.

I'm not disagreeing with the origin or the entomology of the name. I introduce it "Cabo Verde" when they show up on the mat ... but every single map I ever saw until 2013 (and many after that) say "Cape Verde" - I'm a bit of a geography and map nerd. I think it might be a reach to assume that even if the country name itself hasn't changed since 1444, the general public would know this, and even less likely fans of wrestling.

Yes, because you went to school in the US. We use a lot of English here.  It still says Cape Verde on the map in the room that I am in now.  They have just asked that everyone call them "Cabo Verde" at the UN, Olympics, etc.

I assume you say "Deutschland" at international competitions?

What are you trying to say, wrestling fans are not as smart as the general public 🙂 ?
