potential fields

65kg: Forrest(Cadet silver),Blaze(cadet gold u20 bronze),Bassett(cadet gold u20 bronze),Valencia,Mendez(u20 silver),Vega,Hardy(u23 bronze),Stanich,Bartlett (u20 bronze)

74kg: Carr(cadet bronze u20 gold),MM(u20 gold and silver),Duke(u20 bronze),Lockett (cadet gold and junior silver),Shapiro(cadet and junior gold),Kasak

feels like we could be approaching Russia levels of depth at those two weights where we have 4-5 guys that could medal at each weight.

I think heavyweight might have the most guys with age group medals?  Unfortunately very few of them appear to be entered,

Keuter
Mullen
Trumble
Gable
Mason
Wyatt
Hopke
greg
(if Aaron goes 97 maybe snyder?)

Its a shame other than Gable and maybe Mason and Wyatt that none of these guys seem to really feel like established senior level threats.

Nick Feldman

Lucas Davison

Tony Cassioppi (prob retired)

I'm pretty sure these guys all have UWW hardware, too.

Davison strikes me as a dude who could do really well at 97kg. He got too big for 197 but was incredibly fast as a smaller HWT.

Feldman seems to have regressed as he’s gotten bigger. That said, I think he’d do better at 125kg than he would at 97kg. Rock, hard place.

How do we seed 65 KG and 74 KG right now?

65 KG entries:

Jesse Mendez
Bo Bassett
Aden Valencia
Seth Gross
Real Woods
Brock Hardy
Marcus Blaze
Carter Young

You have Gross and Blaze coming up, and the others there.  I could see Bassett getting seeded above Valencia because he has had two MFS wins over him the last year. Real hard to place Blaze, but I could see Gross getting the 2, 3, or 4 in that bunch.  I don't like the above because it puts Gross/Blaze in the QF.  That said, NLWC hasn't entered yet, and Barlett will be there to break up that matchup... another week of entries still to go.  Do we see any 57 KG guys give it an actual go at 65 KG?  If Blaze is the 7 and Bassett is the 2 we could see that as a QF as well.

Those not yet entered who could:
Zane Richard
Thomas Gilman
Reyes Sanchez
Dom Munaretto
Daniel DeShazer
Vincent Robinson
Troy Spratley
Liam Cronin
Nico Provo
Brendan McCrone
Austin Assad
Brady Roark
Nick Lee
Ruben Calderon
Lucas Byrd
Drake Ayala
Zeth Romney
Beau Bartlett
Ben Davino
Austin Desanto
Michael McGee
Fernando Barreto
Tom Crook

WOW

74 KG entries:
David Carr
Quincy Monday
Jarrett Jacques
Michael Caliendo
Peyton Hall
Joey Blaze
Ed Scott
Elroy Perkin

I think you put Caliendo just above Hall, right?  Blaze could be before Hall or after Hall, but I think he is before Scott based off nothing, really.  Blaze did beat him in 2023-24 in Folkstyle 4-1 in OT.  That makes me think Blaze could drop to #8/8 on this list.

Now for a list of guys qualified we could see at 74 KG that aren't registered (yet)...

Terrell Barraclaugh

That's it.  Unless we see Andonian up from 70 KG (doubt it).  I also suppose we could see Burroughs or Nolf in at 74 KG (also doubt it).  Bearclaw would slot in just above Peyton Hall since he just beat him at the Open.  Could be above Caliendo, but I think they give it to Caliendo on that one.  Maybe not.  Either way Caliendo/Bearclaw would be a 4/5 matchup.

Thoughts?
