I would imagine more of our top guys and gals would go as well.

And no greco coach...

no money allocated to send the step children or their coaches, so, they have to figure it out for themselves...

i have no doubt...

the deglane greco participation is an indictment on depth and lack of resources more than anything...

a symptom of the overall issues...

Is Deglane not a prestigious enough tourney to get our world team there?   Any one of our FS World Team?   I see Cox but he is going 97Kg which answers the question on his thoughts on the weight class matter.   It is great that we have so many going, hopefully not just participating.   Great lineup but would like to see more A-listers.

Besides worlds and some continentals, is there such a thing as a prestigious tourney in international wrestling? Just kind of who from the world shows up in a particular year, no?

The first ranking tournament is in Zagreb, Croatia 10 days after this tournament.

I suspect that's where the World Team is focusing its efforts.

I guess so.   The Yarygin is one of those that is pretty prestigious.  Why doesn't everyone show up to these tourneys?   That's my point.   Steel sharpens steel.  That sort of thing.   I get the injury angle, I would just like to see more wrestling in the international circuit.

the only international tourneys that makes sense to send our women's style reps are the ranking tourneys... there just is not enough value outside of those to send our best...

our greco guys any tourney could have value...

That may be Mike.   I don't have the schedule in front of me but that would be a consideration no doubt.

As a passing note, I've been to Zagreb.   Never got off the plane as it was heading to my final destination.   Can't even say I set foot there but I did land there.

those that want to go to the yarygin pretty much do, but, i suspect almost all off them that do are being funded by their RTCs and not USAW...

Thanks for the schedule Mike.

Sadly, I'll just have to get the reports when they come in and perhaps watch later.

That could be.   If I was USAW, I'd be funding it?   They have plenty of money to fund that kind of stuff.   I think there would have to be criteria to the funding as in a World medal or something like that.   Not just sending anyone.

Yep, hadn't thought of that.   Might be only for Russians if held at all.   I'm guessing they can do that within country.

Will Russia be allowed to compete in Paris24?
I doubt it.

Seems even more unlikely that they'll be allowed to compete at LA28.

We might be seeing the destruction of Russia sport, writ large.

i have no clue if the UWW "owns" rights to that tourney, but, it clearly was a UWW sanctioned event previously and would not exist as such now...

regardless, they are still wrestling in russian no matter what ridiculous ban is being imposed on their athletes, so, i can not see any reason an athlete could not go over for whatever they wanted as long as they are ok with some online whining that would inevitably come from someone with an agenda...

i was told once what USAW working budget was (albeit from about 10 years ago)...

if what i was told was correct, the number is shockingly low...

i also know what a greco national team member was being given as a stipend last year...

again, shockingly low...
