D3 for LU Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Another sentimental favorite, Lucas Byrd... this one for the IlliniwrestlingBlog. (He's smiling down upon us w/ this choice, yes indeed!) D3 2 Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Coastal Posted March 15 Posted March 15 It's a shame that the coaching philosophy has ruined Ayala. Their practice one move until you can't get it wrong philosophy has made Ayala a one trick pony. Anyone who stops the slide by/slide by single beats him. I'm waiting for someone who pulls an RBY and just doesn't engage with their right side.

If he wrestles smart, just takes what is there instead of the high risk moves he will have a good tournament. Edited March 16 by Paul158 missed a word
Coastal Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Bouzakis is going to transfer but this just shows the problem with wrestlestat. They weigh pins too heavily. A wrestler who pins a good opponent rockets up the elo. An inferior opponent can pin a better wrestler. An inferior wrestler can never tech a better opponent. While pins are the ultimate goal, computers should recognize tech falls as a much better indicator of performance. 1

jross Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Updated Bracket Predictions with actual round 1 incorporated. Wrongly predicted Van Dee to upset Miller. Missed the following upsets Oakley over Rini Shawver over Spidle Farber over Noto The wrestler seeded 17-33 with most wins remains Farber, Julian (Seed 18, Northern Iowa, 3-2). His predicted win count increased from 2 to 3 wins. The top 7 AAs remain the same. However Braeden Davis has been bumped from #8 and replaced by Braxton Brown (Seed 9, Maryland, 4-3) AA predictions have changed from 6-8 McGonagle, Connor (Seed 6, Virginia Tech) drops from #6 to nada. Serrano, Dominick (Seed 5, Northern Colorado) drops from #7 to #6 Frost, Evan (Seed 11, Iowa State) improves from #8 to #7 Davis, Braeden (Seed 8, Penn State) improves from nada to #8

Looks good to me.
jross Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Correction in my comment. There was a time between the original prediction and after round 1 where Braxton Brown was predicted to be an AA. Now he is not. Quote The top 7 AAs remain the same. However Braeden Davis has been bumped from #8 and replaced by Braxton Brown (Seed 9, Maryland, 4-3)
