This conversation of coaches beating current athletes came up on FRL a while back. IIRC CP talked about how shocked he was to watch Terry put a whooping on Alex Marinelli.

I can actually see that happening, except for Kerkvliet. The one I question is when guys like the Banachs were saying Dan Gable, all 140 pounds of him, was dominating everybody in the Iowa room after the age of 40 with a bad hip. Obviously that's BS.

I find that impossible to believe, unless Marinelli was taking it easy on the little fella.

I literally think Pyles just didn't know what he was watching. It was probably a spar, or maybe Brands actually can beat him if marinelli was doing what he should have done and not played squash.
