Football and offensive linemen

I don’t watch a ton of college or pro football any more.  Indiana osu looked interesting so I’m watching a bit.  
 

odd question.  The osu offensive line…… all 5 currently have both knees in braces.   Is that injury related or preventative or part of each?

They have lost 2 lineman and a center so far this year. They keep rebuilding their line as the season progresses. I would the knee braces are preventive. Hoosier Coach Cignetti has done a great job with his team this year. !0 and 0 coming into this game.

Thanks that’s what’s caught my eye.   The 10-0 so I watched.

I distinctly remember every O lineman for Wisconsin, particularly during the Barry Alvarez era, wearing double braces.

Extremely common, maybe even the norm, to see the knee braces in college. Usually preventative. 

They lose them in the NFL because they can’t afford the reduction in speed.

The Buckeyes have lost 3 starters (Lineman) to season ending injuries so far this season. They seem to be adapting pretty well. Now for a little redemption against the team up North. They have lost 3 in a row to them. The records never seem to matter when it comes to this rivalry game.

Tks all.   I’ve never worn a knee brace.  I was lucky to be fairly injury free my whole career….  
 

How limiting are they on mobility?   Footwork is so important for linemen.    They also look much more amazing now vs when I was in college (knee braces).   Our 58 pounder in college wore one in practice and competition and haasaaaaaaaated it…… But it was that older sleeve / heavier model.   He always had to adjust it and was always griping about it
