Who gets the 285lb spot this season for VT?... Hunter Catka or Jimmy Mullen?

Catka a RS Junior is a 3x NCAA Qualifier and was Round of 12 last year

Mullen a RS Frosh stopped playing Football for Hokies and is one of the top recruits in VT History

Surprised one of them didn't enter portal so they don't have to sit on bench this season

I think it will be Mullen and Catka transfers for final season (2025/2026) after graduating

Should be interesting

I also think it will be Mullen.  Catka lost a year earlier in his career when they brought in the ponytailed guy from Stanford.

Yeah Mullen seems to have "it", "finds a way"....the things dumb people say after someone wins.

Feldman killed him in HS I'd be curious to see them in college.

I honestly think Feldman will kill him again.

I got a lot of tOSU prejudice, he's gotta prove it for me.

Taking Mullen over Feldman?

Yes.  There is no data to support it, either.

What reasons?  Give us a play by play?

Just a feeling, Mullen compete's very "freely" (terminology I don't feel embarassed saying as opposed to "he has 'it'" or "gamer"), he's been a football player up until now, still see his tracjectory as steeply upward. On the other hand Feldman, who looked amazing in high school, hasn't started as fast as I would have hoped, and I'm happy to refer to it as prejudice, but I just don't think tOSU develops the talent they have as well as most top schools.

Another example along the same vein that means nothing is kharchla. I predicted he would be a multiple champ, I saw him at fargo and his whose #1 match and was amazed at his the size of the angles he made off his own shots, didn't seem like he ever needed a second move to finish, then he committed to tOSU and my heart sank a little. Again thats just a narrative in my head its not an argument, but we're basically on here to get information and share our head narratives right?

I’d say Mullen will get the starting nod prior to the start off ACC duals. He’s likely to get bonus points in most matches which should give him the slot if head to head matches are a toss up

I feel like Mullen and Keuter should switch schools.  Mullen seems more like an Iowa guy and Keuter a Va Tech guy

Is that a hot take...:classic_dry:

Mullen to me is more of a physical brute, stalking the opponent.  Keuter has a bit more finesse and less of an intimidation factor (IMHO)

its a take based on factors invisible to me.

I could be totally offbase, but I felt inspired by your "let's expose our own bias" speech
