17 year old Ferasati (U17 world champion) beat 21 year old Yousefi (U23 world champion) 12-6 today

Crazy win over a current U23 world champion. Ferasati is a serious prospect.

Ferasati I think can be our future 86kg rep. Yousefi is also crazy good which makes this super impressive.

Yazdani just lost to Yoshida in a match he was controlling for large portions of. I'm not even sure if he will get pulled back in Yoshida didn't look that special. Yazdani needs another year or two to properly fill out at 97. Yoshida gassed him out.

With 0.02 sec left yazdani gave up a takedown.  But you're right yazdani gassed out and Thazudinov will beat Yoshida.

I know it's too early but how qualifications for next year worlds works in Iran ?  Does Azarpira need to beat Yazdani twice to get the spot ?

It depends I'm not too sure what the coaches will think after this loss tbh. They would probably both be sent to ranking series events and then the winner is who performs the best probably.

How Amouzad was called for fleeing is beyond me. Tevanyan was defending the whole match and they gave Amouzad the passivity call is ridiculous. Not to mention the multiple head buts by Tevanyan. Awful start for Iran.

The way Yazdani and Amouzad lost is frustrating to see.  Anyway Tevanyan will most likely lose against shamil and Amouzad will be eliminated .  Yoshida need to beat Thazudinov for yazdani to get back in repechage.

Yoshida last takedown  was legit . Yazdani had both knees down . But this call on Amouzad was awful specially with the way tevanyan wrestles.  Ref and judges are biased against Iran.

Better conditioning and endurance won the day for Americans and Yoshida.

Abbasghadzi Magomedov was one point away from tech and yazdani controlled the match just to give up at the last 2 secs but at least he's back in repechage and should wrestle Thazudinov for bronze tomorrow.

Amouzad didn't go hard against tevanyan, was thinking about conserving energy for Shamil . Now tevanyan beat Shamil and we get amouzad vs Shamil for bronze. So not a bad day after all!!

Regarding Amouzad's match against Tevanyan - First of all this was so un Amouzad like.. he was a Rahim, not bi rahm... he was playing the defensive tactic the whole time and then running away from Tevanyan the last minute.. what I like to find out what happened was the break with 4 seconds left in the match.. there was an intense discussion with the side ref (sorry don't know the proper terminology - the ref on the side outside of the mat) and the mat judge.. It was very intense and I am not sure whether he was complaining as to why the ref had not cautioned Amouzad.. but whatever transpired in that break, had a direct result on the remaining 4 seconds. If anyone can explain, it will be much appreciated.

Tough draw made Amouzad plan his strategy . Musaev and then a tough turk then tevanyan who always hard to score on plus the fact that Amouzad didn't want to exhaust himself before the semis against shamil whos on paper is the hardest match.

Ref gave passivity point but it was white paddled so they discussed it and instead he got a warning for passivity

I was extra upset because at 1 min 20 sec left I noticed Amouzad start backing up more and I was nervous the ref might punish him and that's exactly what happened . First he warned him for passivity then with 2 secs left caution and 1 .  I still don't believe the caution was warranted cz Amouzad was being defensive yes but not fleeing the action.

Always sucks to lose with a second left and today it happened with two of the best iranian wrestlers.

Yazdani was a wrestling situation;  but Amouzad loses on a judgement call?  Didn't see the rest of the match but looks like the Ref gave a match decision based on 4 seconds of defensive wrestling?
