The leopard of juybar Reza Yazdani belong in this list imo. He got me into Iran wrestling. Very unique wrestler to watch with the signature foot stomp move single leg. Unfortunate what happened at 2012 Olympics specially after beating the best guy Abusalam Gadisov . Returned next year and won world gold .

The judges got it right. First pushouts for hidlay shouldv'e been a 2 point takedown. That's the only mistake the ref made . The passivity call on hidlay in second period was the right call . The last encounter yes ghadzimagomedov had both legs out but he initiated the counter before so again right call by the judge after review. No robbery.

Who's the second guy at 86 KG in Iran currently ? I think Nokhodi will move to 86 and btw he beat the guy who pinned Ghasempoor twice this year .

Javan very impressive and well deserved gold. He will maybe move to 65 soon . Hassan Yazdani great tournament and showed he still belong with the best , he still has 3 or 4 years to catch a gold at 97 kg. Zare was the biggest favorite to win gold of all weights and he showed how much he's ahead of everyone. Little Yazdani is very good technically but with no gas tank he'll never win gold. Lastly firouzpour wrestled a good tournament and against hidlay he was close ! But the guy rarely shoot for takedowns if ever. He only want to hand fight and push which is effective against the majority of wrestlers but not those who can score takedowns like hidlay or ghadzimagomedov. At least Iran has 3 top guys at this weight adding rahmani and Azimi .

Amir yazdani as usual has good takedowns technique but no gas tank ,he'll wrestle salkazanov for bronze.

Damn. So it's possible to happen this year if James green wins his two repechage matches and salkazanov . James green on a mission tomorrow.

Javan World champ at 61 KG wrestled his best match of the tournament . Also his phisique changed from last year, he look like bodybuilders.

I didn't claim to know the rules for qualifying in Iran. We all know Azarpira belong among the best at this weight and yazdani don't need this advantage.

Azarpira . He already beat Yoshida at asian games in Japan last month. Plus In order for Hassan to win gold at 97 he'd most likely have to beat two of the top guys on day 1 and maybe within 1 hour, unless he gets lucky with the draw. Same thing should apply for the team trials , you need to win twice . If they go 1 - 1 you have them wrestle a third match in the evening.

Is that always the rule in Iran that you have to beat the previous participant twice in a row to make the team. It would be more fair if they send Azarpira to a ranking tournament and asian championship and if he win both he could wrestle Yazdani for the spot in two best of three ,No matter who wins the first match.

Yes whoever called the ref didn't like Amouzad circling , and the ref didn't warn him because he warned him 30 or 40 sec earlier about the same thing .

Yazdani is not washed . He was 0.2 sec away from winning against Yoshida and he beat Thazudinov convincingly. He'll be a for next year worlds and Olympics 2028. Unless Azarpira beat him domestically . Sadulaev still great with the best technique but he wrestle more conservative now and his endurance is questionable . Always a contender. Yoshida is only 20 with a deep gas tank. Snyder and yazdani and Sadulaev would want to avoid him till the final. Better to wrestle him on day 2. From now on Yoshida is contender. Finally Snyder . I think with today win he's among the goats . And next year worlds in America he can make it 3 in a row . Last one Thazudinov idk if he should be considered a gold threat at this point . The guy fall is weird considering he's still 23 . With 4 or 5 who can win gold 97 KG is now the most exciting weight to watch.

Congrats . That's two bronze medals and potentially 1 silver and 1 gold for tomorrow. First Amouzad controlled the whole match but didn't overcommit on the edge. He wrestled smart and after this match I'm reassured that against tevanyan he was conserving energy. Anyway Amouzad vs Bo would've been a far more interesting final. Amouzad is so hard to reach his legs with great hooks and counters vs a cardio freak. Yazdani outmuscled Thazudinov and yaz style of wrestling works very well against wrestlers with low endurance
