Why did Khalili wrestle at 65kg instead of Amouzad. Either way, Sujeet is going to be a problem at this weight.

Momeni, Amouzad, Emami, and Nokhodi didn't go. Guess they were not ready or dealing with minor injuries, as Iran usually sends a full strength team to Asians.

Sujeet is very good. You can make a case for the top 4 wrestlers at 65kg being Amouzad, Kiyooka, Mamedov, and Sujeet (probably in that order).

Valizadeh wins gold

Peyman Nemati DNP

Sina Khalili wins bronze

Yousefi DNP after losing to Jamalov

Azarpira wins silver (losing 4-0 to Yoshida in a very bad performance)

--

Ahmad Javan lost a close one to Aman at 61kg, who set a crazy pace and Javan could not cope with it

Amir Yazdani was unlucky to lose against Aoyagi at 74kg, looked like he was on good form today

Ghasempour, Azimi, and Zare reached the final

Not sure what's going on with Taz. Is the weight cut too much or has he lost motivation after winning an Olympic gold.

Or is the post-operation shoulder still bothering him. They stopped the match with Yoshida for injury time with his shoulder. He certainly gassed badly.

Oh shit. Looks minor, but that's unfortunate

Oh, you're still around?! The way you were riding so hard for the Islamic Republic, I honestly thought you went back to Iran and got yourself killed in the war.

The least you could’ve done was go back and throw a rock at an Israeli jet

Ladies and gentlemen, behold the Zen master of autofellatio.

You didn't go die for Israel yet? There is still time, don't worry.

Amouzad beat Mamedov 17-10 in a great match today in Bulgaria

Mamedov took an 8-0 lead but Amouzad's pace was too much for him, and Amouzad took over in the second half of the second period

Mamedov looked to be in great form earlier in the day. Mamedov had defeated Amouzad in their last two meetings, 8-6 and 10-8.

There is a case to be made for Amouzad being P4P #1. No worse than top 3-5 for sure.

Also in Mongolia:

Khateri won bronze at 61kg

Yousefi won silver at 79kg, losing 10-0 to Khaniev in the final

Nokhodi won gold at 86kg after Ramazanov forfeited in the final from injury. He will move back to 79kg for Worlds

Rahmani won bronze at 92kg after a silly mistake against Dauletbekov in the last 10 seconds when he was leading 4-0 then got thrown for 4

For Greco, Payam Ahmadi dominated his way to gold at 55kg and looks like a gold favourite for worlds, Ahmadi Vafa won gold at 60kg and seems to be slowly improving, Keshtkar beat Sharshenbekov at 63kg which was probably a career best win for him, Sohrabi won gold at 72kg beating Rezaei 8-5.

Iran's greco team will be extremely strong this year again

The Takhti Cup will be held in Kerman from June 17-19

Azarpira vs Yazdani will have a wrestle off (best of 3) to determine who makes the team at 97kg on June 18th

Emami will wrestle Amir Yazdani at 74kg

Firouzpour will wrestle Azimi at 92kg. they are building a good domestic rivalry, hopefully less drama this time

It's disappointing that Khateri, Yousefi, Rahmani and Khalili have fallen off quite a bit compared to their junior level achievements. I was expecting a lot more from them. Keshtkar teaching Sharshenbekov is really promising imo even if he moved up from 60kg. Our greco team is going to be super strong for a while.

I think the winners are going to be Azarpira, Emami and Firouzpour. I don't think either Yazdani makes the team. Does anyone know if Kiyooka is competing at worlds this year because if so 65 might be the most stacked weight class. Both sides of the bracket are going to be stacked.

agree except I prefer Azimi to Firouzpour

Azarpira didn't look great against Yoshida but he should still be good enough to beat this version of Yazdani
