Curious about redshirts and open tournaments.

Was wondering if anyone knows about open tournaments and wrestling unattached.  

 

Does the team pay for anything (travel, registration etc) or is it all paid by the student?  I follow Nebraska and notice a lot of the same wrestlers and don't see others. Not certain if guys are hurt or what.  Are things different for backups not redshirting? I assume the team can (not necessarily will) pay for them.

Team pays for attached.

Team doesn't pay anything for unattached.

Can't have too many attached at a tournament when the team doesn't want that tournament to count as a competition date.

So participation at tournaments (who goes to which) must be coordinated including who may be attached in consideration of competition date criteria and budget.

Unattached can travel with the team for reasons of safety. That came a few years back- maybe 5,6,7?
