No. 4 Ohio State (1-0) returns to the Covelli Center Friday for a 7 p.m. match vs. Columbia (0-0) before traveling to Chapel Hill to take on No. 17 North Carolina (1-1) at noon Sunday. The home match vs. the Lions will be streamed by B1G+. Fans can watch the Buckeyes and Tar Heels clash on ESPN+.

No. 4 Ohio State defeated No. 14 Virginia Tech 18-13 Nov. 11 in Columbus to open the 2022-23 dual season. Eight of the 10 bouts were decided by three points or less. Nine of the matchups were won by decision. Redshirt freshman Paddy Gallagher earned his first dual victory in the 157 match. Tate Orndorff earned career win No. 75 at heavyweight. It was career win No. 295 for Tom Ryan, head coach of the Buckeyes.

Ohio State faces Columbia/North Carolina with wrestlers among the Top 25 in all 10 weight classes. Sammy Sasso enters as the No. 4 at 149 with Kaleb Romero at No. 4 at 184. Dylan D’Emilio (No. 7/141), Paddy Gallagher (No. 21/157), Carson Kharchla (No. 6/165), Ethan Smith (No. 6/174) and Tate Orndorff (No. 7/HWT) also are in the Top 10 in their respective weight classes.

They are burning Decatur's shirt for a Colombia dual?

Our interpretation of the 'five attached' applying only to true frosh must be incorrect.  Iowa did it with Schriever last night too.

Malik 17-4 Looked great.
Mendez 12-2 Solid.
Decatur 3-1 Looked good.
Reeves Lost 7-4 Got an escape and a td.
Paddy 11-4 Looked good.
Kharchla 6-3 Took a knock early. Controlled a 6-3 win.
Smith lost 8-6 and looked dreadful. @nhs67I hope you don't see this match.
Romero 22-6 Looked great.
Hoffman 27-8 Looked really good.
Orndorff Got a fall. Looked like an assassin. If so, he's got a new nickname.

The worst part in the Smith loss is that it makes me wonder if he will be out against Lautt.

Gents drop head scratchers l the time.  Labs lost to Nachohouse last year.

OSU vs UNC

Match starts at 165.

165 No. 6 Carson Kharchla (OSU) def. Nicholas Fea (UNC) | D, 12-8              

Fea started off the match with an early takedown and followed that with a four-point near fall for a 6-0 lead. Kharchla responded with a reversal to make it 6-2 UNC. It was 7-2 heading into the second before Kharchla added another reversal to cut it to 7-4 UNC. A Fea escape followed by another Kharchla escape and a four-point near fall put Kharchla on top 10-8 with two minutes left. Kharchla was awarded a point after Fea was called for stalling and with a point for riding time, Kharchla won by decision, 12-8.

174 No. 6 Ethan Smith (OSU) def. No. 5 Clay Lautt (UNC) | D, 2-0                 

In a battle of Top 10 wrestlers, neither was able to score in the first period. There was still no score after the second with Smith not allowing Lautt to escape from the down position. Smith managed to escape to open the third for the first score of the match, 1-0. With a point for riding time, Smith earned the win by decision, 2-0.

184 No. 4 Kaleb Romero (OSU) def. No. 13 Gavin Kane (UNC) | D, 5-4          

Romero scored first with a takedown. Kane escaped followed by another Romero takedown for a 4-1 lead. Kane earned another escape to end the first down to the Buckeyes, 4-2. Kane added another escape midway through the second to enter the third with Romero leading 4-3. Romero added an escape of his own to start the third and with riding time, won by decision, 5-4. Kane earned a late point on a stalling call against Romero.

197 No. 15 Gavin Hoffman (OSU) def. Max Shaw (UNC) | D, 8-2                    

The first points went to Hoffman on a takedown to lead 2-1 after a Shaw escape. Hoffman scored another takedown and added another two points for a near fall to lead 6-1 after three minutes. Shaw added a point with an escape in the second to trail 6-2 with a period left in the match. Hoffman escaped and added a point for riding time for a win by decision, 8-2.

285 No. 7 Tate Orndorff (OSU) def. Brandon Whitman (UNC) | Fall, 5:22 ASSASSIN 

After a scoreless first, Orndorff escaped to start the second before a takedown made it 3-0 Buckeyes Orndorff earned the win with the pin for the victory at 5:22. It marked the second-consecutive fall for Orndorff in dual competitions.

125 No. 11 Malik Heinselman (OSU) def. Jack Wagner (UNC) | D, 3-1                               

Wagner scored first with an escape to start the second period for a 1-0 lead. Heinselman countered with an escape to tie it at 1-all to open the third. Heinselman scored the go-ahead takedown with under 20 seconds left for the win by decision, 3-1.

133 No. 13 Jesse Mendez (OSU) def. No. 17 Joey Melendez (UNC) | Fall, 4:32 

Mendez struck first with a takedown and then a two-point near fall for the 4-0 lead after the first. Mendez then won by fall in the second at 4:32.

141 No. 25 Lachlan McNeil (UNC) def. Jordan Decatur (OSU) | D, 9-7           

Decatur struck first with a double-leg takedown for the 2-0 lead. McNeil escaped but another double-leg by Decatur made it 4-1 Buckeyes. McNeil was awarded a point for stalling and then escaped to make it 4-3 OSU. Another McNeil escape to start the second followed by a takedown made it 6-4 UNC. Decatur scored a reversal to tie it at 6-all before McNeil escaped to enter the third up 7-6. Decatur retied the match at 7-all with an escape but McNeil notched the winning takedown at the end of the period for the 9-7 win by decision.

149 No. 4 Sammy Sasso (OSU) def.  Jayden Scott (UNC) | Fall, 1:39                

Sasso built a quick 6-0 lead on a takedown and four-point near fall. Scott then escaped before Sasso got the pin for the victory.

157  Sincere Bailey (UNC) def. No. 21 Paddy Gallagher (OSU) | MFF   Paddy never stepped on the mat.

  OSU wins 33-9.        Orndorff is no longer Ornerydwarf he shall now be know as, 'Orndorff the Assassin.'
