Michigan 125

Saw that Kurt McHenry beat Medley at the MSU open (speaking of which, does anyone have a link to brackets?  I don’t see it on Floarena and keep getting error messages or prior year brackets on Track).  But also lost to Andre Gonzales of tOSU and Kase Mauger of UVU.  And Medley also lost to Brady Koontz of tOSU.

Is Medley still the guy here?

My guess is that they'll probably settle it over the next few weeks before Vegas.  These are two guys who work out against each other every day and know each others' moves, so they'll probably have a few more chess matches in the practice room to decide things.

Nobody wrestles their best at this point in the season, but McHenry, while starting strong in each match, appeared visibly exhausted against all opponents by the second period. He seems to be a classic case of too small for 125.

Medley wrestled reasonably well with a full gas tank, but didn't quite close the gap in the third period like he has so many times in the past.

It's early but that's a rough weekend...

McHenry lost to Gonzales and Mauger.

Medley lost to Koontz (and McHenry).

Gonzales looked decent in the wrestleoff against Heinselman, and beat Koontz himself, but he also lost to MSU’s Benny Gomez and NIU’s Blake West.  Mauger lost to Koontz and West as well.

If he continues to be undersized, his name is officially Squirt McHenry.

That ship has sailed.

Everyone has been calling him 'Squirt' since birth.

I haven't seen McHenry wrestle yet this year admittedly....however, it seems that a program like Michigan would be able to bulk him up to an average 125er.

He would still be undersized for 118, were that a D1 weight.
