LJB Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Well… my canadian overlords have deemed the Poland Open as restricted to watch on my work station so having to watch one mat at a time on a TV… so ridiculous but this is the world we live in… missed Holmes first match and can not find the result… Porter dropped his first match in a rather uninspiring 6-0 defeat… Our guy PJ tech smashed UKR 11-0 and looked really good doing it… the best wrestler in the planet Esmaeili is there at 72… good stuff
LJB Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 Keenan Wyatt at 87kg got wrecked by Poland 8-0… our guy Beka and UKR at 87… Becja sporting the corn rows… holds on for the 5-3 win… very dominant first period then kinda tired out… how that dude ever made 82 is beyond me…
LJB Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 Holmes gets the late first period tech over the Chilean 9-0… looked pretty solid Sikes getting wrecked by ARM… early second 9-0 tech… not sure how much training that guy is doing… was sorta surprised to see him even there…
LJB Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 Brett Back totally controlled by Gaspar… 8-0 loss… no surprise… Benji looking like a giant at 72kg… but gets just tossed to his back by Krygestsn… then put down and turned to end first down 7-0… catches an arm spin early second for 2 and then polish for 4… 7-6… US bricks it fir some reason… loses challenge now down 8-6… gets KGZ put down but can’t get anything going… 8-7… KGZ locks it down for the 8-7 win… why they threw the brick makes no sense… lost challenge is the difference in the match… young at 97 picks up a win against Saudi but didn’t watch…
LJB Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 (edited) Wyatt at 87 against UKR… didn’t have much… got a little groggy early second and got in a 50/50 that UKR tossed him… losses 4-0 off throw and couple passivities… Porter and Poland at 82kg… porter out down in both periods… loses 2-0… he might be getting a little long in the tooth… Edited August 26 by LJB
LJB Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 tourney is using a weird bracket system that even after reading their explanation i still can not figure out how to read them... anyway, it is double elimination... PJ now out... Back now out... Holmes out... Porter out... Sikes still in... Benji still in... Beka still in...
LJB Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 our guy Beka techs and then pins the UKR for bronze... he picks up his 3rd international medal this year... he's really coming into his own at this weight... 1
LJB Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 we got 4 more weights going tomorrow... Otto at 67 should be in for medal contention... brady Koontz at 55kg will love having that +2 and could medal... Dalton Roberts at 60kg maybe, but, i will not hold my breath for very long... still haven't seen any wrestler list or brackets yet... not that i can read these damn brackets anyway... 1
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 60kg Koontz rolls up Koelzer in first match after koelzer was holding pretty good position early but gave a TD and that was pretty much it… 8-0 quick 60kg Robert’s in a tight affair with UKR… gets UKR put down first but can’t get anything going… UKR gets second passivity and gets the lift and belly to back OOBs for 2… 3-1 is the final… 67kg Nelson gets steam rolled by Norway… put down first then gets rolled up to go down 7-0… NOR should have got second passivity in second but they are not going to end a match like that… pushes him all around but then just chills out for the 7-0 win
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 63kg X against good frien algorithm from Sweden… they give X first psssive and algorithm floats his hips both sides but no exposures either way… put X down second and algot almost had the turn but X manages to not expose on the edge… a little behind on the whistle and never gets to 3rd passive… 1-1 win for X
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 Otto at 67 against Poland… Otto pushing the action multiple drags… almost gets the hip reach around… gives him a nice head but in the chest and then they put Otto down… silly but whatever… POL has nothing for him in par terre… back in the feet and Otto drags for TD and quick gut to go up 4-1… into second and POL wants out… Otto ducks drags and then kinda goes opposite taking him across body but legs… put him down and Otto guts him off the mat… 9-1 win 1
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 60kg Peak against ARM firmer U20 gold and who max wrestled for bronze last year at U23… not much action on the feet early with ARM controlling the action… peak put down and only gives up one gut while defending pretty well… 3-1 at the break… action on the feet picks up early second and peak has to open up a little to secure the passivity but gets shucked for the TD… doesn’t give up anything in par terre… 5-0… ARM shuts it down for the remainder while peak goes kitchen sink and finally gives up a late TD 7-0 final
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 55kg Koontz and CZE… Koontz bros are so jazz hangs on the feet and scrappy… gets CZE put down… locks up the Cuban but can’t get the turn… gets a lift and belly to belly in the edge for the throw… gets the step out point 2-0… Koontz put down in the second but gives up nothing… 2-1 and he locks it down for the win 1
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 Roberts and Koelzer up next at 60… suks for Koelzer to come all that way and only wrestle US guys
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 67kg Nelson gives up 2 4s in the first but manages to get a reversal on one and survives to the second 8-1… Not going to give POL psssivity to end match… Nelson just gets pushed around entire second until POL gets to the body late and lifts and straight forward for another 4… 12-1 loss and Nelson is out…
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 Roberts controlling all the action on the feet… multiple attacks and just all over Koelzer… about to put Koelzer down when Roberts goes arm spin and keeps chasing it on the mat for the TD and then cones up high gut and straight back for 4… 6-0 at the break… second opens up more of the same… Roberts has him tied up off a drag and tries to just meatheads him over but koelzer fights it off and floats to get the TD… 6-2 Roberts realizes all he needs to do is calm it down a little and finishes the match 6-2… Koelzer goes 2 and BBQ losing both to Americans… brutal
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 Otto and Sweden… solid hand fight from both… Otto gets a drag and behind but Sweden scrambles out of it gets the position on Otto but Otto returns the favor… nice by both… SWE put down and Otto gets a couple of low guys but can’t get the lift… 5-0 couple of more drags and almost gets the angle but SWE not a punk… early second another drag by Otto and gets behind but they call something… put Otto down and SWE goes reverse lift and Otto floats his hip and stands up out of it… 5-1 more tough hand fight several drags by Otto one he gets the TD but they white paddle it again… ends 5-1 win
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 6O kg Koontz and UKR… they trade passivities and guts and Koontz up 3-3 but UKR catches his hip late and gets up with a scramble step out late… brick… lost… 5-3 loss
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 55kg Koontz up big over UKR late and secures the pin… He has a round robin so if he wins next match gold for sure
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 60kg Roberts and peak… Roberts controlling the hand fights… step out and passivity to end first 2-0… peak down again in second… peak with a slick back up into standing… Roberts catches a wild head lock attempt… and another step out… That’s how it ends… peak out…
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 60 kg Koontz gives up his hip to the ARM… gets behind and 2 big Polishes for quick 8-0 tech
LJB Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 63kg X vs UKR… X gets first passivity but nothing happening… first ends 1-0 X down and gives up low gut and then a quick step out down 4-1 thats how it ends…
