absolutely...

as evidenced by more age level world medals... more wins at seniors...

But we haven’t had a medal at seniors since 2021…

Otto wasn’t even top 100 on the big board was he?

Schultz is a hwt you can barely call that Greco.

Joel Adams wrestled d1 but didn’t do well.  Got beat up his frosh year and decided to go to Greco full time right?

no one else was anywhere near being recruited for real or probably were not even an strong AA threat in the popular style

But a paltry medal less than every other year.    And no yellow ones for over a quarter century

being a homer dad doesn’t make you more knowledgeable you know that right?

otto was not on a big board because he went full time greco after his freshmen year...

only got recruited to iowa because he went on a trip there with his best friend who was getting recruited and they like him enough to open their doors...

once he left iowa he was contacted by many big programs trying to get him to come talk and he was not interested...

joel had grade issues while grey shirting at Michigan and then went to oregon state... he is still there... was 6-2 his freshmen year...

zane richards wrestled for illinois and was a 2X AA and made a senior world team in free... can't make a greco team...

why do you keep saying stupid things you know nothing about?

it is so odd...

zane richards

His age.   Being almost 55 years old was the reason he tried the easier style.  He also knew he would never beat Spencer Lee so he had to go to the shallower end of the pool to be competitive.

He knew he couldn’t beat Spencer so he had to leave.  Did he beat Spencer in 2023?

How many guys on the Greco ladder are serious threats for let’s say the NCAAs finals.

It’s zero right ?

Most NCAA finalists have a near-zero chance of making a FS world team, so why don’t they just show up to the greco open and walk through it to a world team, if they are as superior of athletes/wrestlers as you’re contending?

again, what is your end goal here?

why does that question keep getting ignored by the anonymous nerds who do not follow the sport???

everyone that has tried in the last 10 years has failed...

gilman is an Olympic Bronze and a world champ and 3X world finalist...

lee hasn't earned a world medal yet...

anyone actually involved in sport will all say worlds is a much tougher tourney than the olympics...

The point was they were not high end folkstylers.    Thats why they choose the more boring sport.   There is more money fans fame and upside in d1 folk vs probably never being capable of a world medal on the us team as no one cares.   If they were higher end folk they wouldn’t go Greco.

Show me their high end folk accomplishments.   As I showed you earlier.  Outside of Colton none of them were even aa threats and certainly not ncaa finalist material

Posted

seriously, does being an AA in folk not mean anything to you guys who are not involved???

is being an AA not put an athlete at the high end of folk???

what point are you anonymous forum nerds really trying to prove here???

almost all of the greco guys quit folk after high school, dummy...

the ones that did not all earned AA status...

is being an AA at DI not a high end fold accomplishment???

There was no money in folkstyle up until a few years ago… and if it’s about money, you’re making a good point for getting rid of folkstyle altogether. It’s a dead end outside of coaching the next generation to a dead end.
