Problem with government is they never seem to do the right thing.  Politicians and politics suck

Fauci funded the research that almost certainly led to the pandemic. He then lied about it under oath and spent over two years trying to make people believe that Covid occured naturally. That is why he needed a pardon.

The worst thing Fauci did was recommend 2 doses of the very effective Trump vaccine only 21 days apart.    We likely could have saved more lives if we prioritized more people getting 1 dose rather than some people getting 2 doses.   It also likely contributed to the myocarditis risk.
