just realized the younger Bachmann brother is back to repping PUR and there...

just lost in bronze medal match 9-4...

still super young... pretty sure is still 17...

i will let anyone jump to whatever conclusion they want...

well, leg grabbing in the books...

9 golds and a silver...

FWIW... the only wrestler the US faced who had any accolades outside of past pan ams tech smashed our guy at 65kg...

Posted

apparently the above is a lie...

our 74kg wrestled a former U20 bronze first round and handled his business...

i am an idiot on the internet

i do not talk crazy on leg grabbing particularly in international...

it does not really hold my attention outside the absolute tip of the spear, but, whatever...

hell...

i have even begrudgingly given up my absolute abhorrence to folk and had to admit i enjoyed some matches this year...

any previous hard feelings is way more a function of the thinnest of skins from anonymous forum nerds...

ok...

did my deeper dive on the men's style entry lists...

i expect USA to win golds at-

55kg- Crosby... as athletic as anyone anywhere at anytime, but, a bit of a head case... it feels like he might be figuring out some stuff...

60kg- Black... next topic

63kg- Mannville... next topic

82kg- ARTSISHEUSKIY (admit to a copy and paste... not even going to try)... won gold last year at the Pan Am games... former U20 world team... has won matches in Europe...

130kg- Attao... next topic

the other 5 weights are total toss ups to me...

67kg- Stephenson... first time he has rep'd the US internationally... has focused on greco exclusively for awhile, but, yet to make any impact...

72kg- Way... i know nothing about him... first time rep'n

77kg- Baldwin... i know nothing about him... first time rep'n...

87kg- Wyatt... know little... he did take bronze at Pan Am Games last summer... hopeful medal

97kg- Herzog... has made a couple of U20 teams before both times one and done... '24 U20 Pan Am bronze... hopeful medal

the reality is there are only 2 other competitors competing against the US who have ever won any matches in Europe or Asia...

anything could happen...

but if everyone medals who should and we get at least 4 golds we should take back the team title...

to add to the above-

55kg- Crosby gold
60kg- Black silver
63kg- Manville gold
72kg- Way silver
77kg- Baldwin- actually did not wrestle for bronze
82kg- Artsissheuskiy gold
87kg- Wyatt gold
97kg- Herzog gold
130kg- Attao gold

obviously, on a personal level i am a bit disappointed, but, whatever... you can not make any mistakes and still lose in greco and it is almost 100% that if you do make a mistake you lose in international greco...

still 6 golds and 2 silvers is another big improvement for the program as compared to last year and we walk with the team trophy...

Very easily could have been eight golds as Way had an error in judgement...

agreed...

and if we have our best age eligible at 67, 72, and 77 that is 3 more golds almost assuredly...

max doesn't have a brain fart and it is 10 golds...

the margins are fine...
