Gaj took 5th at 149 with a bad ankle. Seidel took 3rd and beat Macus fairly dominantly. Both guys have redshirts and may not be long for their respective weights. Tech also has Henson coming off redshirt, Campbell I believe coming off a medical? not sure if that got granted and then Bo coming in. That is two TF AA's a redshirt freshman who probably would have been around the 15th seed a national champion and one of the best recurits of all time to occupy 4 weights and it seems like 141-149 are the preferred landing spots for Seidel, Bassett, Gaj, Henson. Oh and they also have Noah Ninninger who beat Jackson Arrington this year.

I personally would move Gaj to 165, Henson to 157, Seidel to 141 and Bassett to 149; no offense to guys like Tom Crook and Mac Church as both can hit the portal and find decent landing spots

Why?

Looking at the final numbers, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Vtech had a bad tourney with a #2 and #4 seed not placing, but Stanford made up for it with an amazing tournament.

No way Gaj goes up 2 weights. Keep him at 41, Bo 49, Whitman 57

Any chance Melvin pulls a "Forrest" and reclassifies up a year so him and Bo can head to VT together?

I think Burton will be an instant AA contender too coming off of a decent RS year!

As the OP said; "good problems"

Bright future unless they take advice from Eddie V on how to attack.  As much as I like VT, he was infuriating.

Looks like he graduates.  He is good, scored points at tourneys big time.  But won’t miss him.  He must be on the top 5 list for OT matches.  Top three for going to rideouts.

Huh.  Thanks.  Saw redshirt senior on roster and stupidly thought that meant something.  Sure hope he finds a way to pull the trigger more.

I love VT but Eddie is the most boring wrestler on the team and one of the most boring in the country. 13 matches this year with 5 or less points is unacceptable for someone that wants to compete at NCAAs. He didnt place this year specifically because of his low attack rate.

Robie was non-committal on next year’s lineup when asked two weeks ago, but Caleb was talking 149 at the Stanford dual which means Bo at 141 and Gaj (maybe Nininger) at 157.

The hope is Seidel can still make 133. If not he might redshirt. Seidel redshirt is the only way Campbell sees the mat in Blacksburg next season.

Robie will likely have talks with Caleb about 157, but Caleb’s Olympics plan has been 65kg. That’s a tough conversation and ask when the young man redshirted for the benefit of next season’s team.

I worry about Eddie next season. He’ll be a sixth year coming off a disappointing NCAA whose attacking was non-existent most of the season. Will he have the desire to come back and change his approach? Seen too many guys stay too long and deal with injuries and burn out that final season.

My guess is we will see him at an open, one home dual, National Duals and then enough ACC duals to get to a RPI qualifying 15 matches.

Miller won’t reclassify but will be at the training center most of his high school season
