Well, I can't resist. In 1956, I read the book "100 Greatest Sports Heroes" and the three bios that impacted me the most were Frank Gotch, King of Wrestlers; Bob Mathias, King of the Decathlon, and Johnny Weissmuller, The Human Fish. I have written books about Gotch and became friends with Mathias late in life...and corresponded a bit with Weissmuller, who after setting 67 swimming records became even more famous as Tarzan in 12 movies. BTW. Dan Gable was a standout swimmer as a youth until he channeled all his energies into antoher sport.

correct. NOT Correct. sorry. I forgot to add Bassett's points. We can still win, but we need wins at 71 and 92, AND for Iran to lose gold medal match. That's asking a lot. If Iran wins gold at 92, we lose 155 to 154

even if they get silver at 92 its 150-149 best case for USA right?

The difference is that Iran scoring w/ one more wrestler... they were shut out of one wt while USA had two wts that went zero point zilch . D3

If James wins at 71kg (which I expect him to) and Alizadeh wins at 92kg (which I expect him to), then Iran will win team title 155 to 149. Iran has effectively locked up the team title regardless of the remaining match outcomes. On a side note, I remember Iran folks giving us grief on these boards for winning 2024 U20 team title with only one gold medalist (Lilledahl), which Iran is now about to do here at cadets. Can't have it both ways!
