    Why did it take Caitlyn Davis so long to speak up? Why did a national championship winning coach resign in the middle of the night and skip town? It's also hard for colleges because do they want to admit they hired somebody like that and damage their reputation, not just for wrestling, but for everything? I bet that less than half the people who post here couldn't tell us that coach's name without reading about it or looking it up. But SOU protected their brand. So that's why things like this happen.

    Maybe the "advice on staying safe online among internet creeps" thread would be a more appropriate place for such an opinion? Anyway...new development. Work started on the empty lot next door to clear and elevate this morning. We tried to buy the lot when we bought the house, but the purchasing agent on the last sale said it was owned by folks in Germany and they are not selling, intend to build. Looks like there are going to be some new European neighbors. May factor into these decisions, old dudes in speedos will take away from the view a little bit.

    Mongush convincingly won Euros a couple months ago so I would say he is solid. He also took second at the Albania rankings tourney up at 61 immediately prior to Euros and his loss was to Takara (Japan) who just won Asia so it's not a bad loss by any stretch. Regarding Pavlov - Losing to Lilledahl isn't exactly a blemish either. It's not conjecture that he is ready now to compete at the senior level and will be a medal threat within a year or two at most, it's just a matter of when he can break through domestically first.

    citing something from a decade ago doesn't help your narrative that it's an epidemic. it's all abhorrent, of course. i just don't see any evidence that it's anything close to more prevalent in wrestling than in other sports.

    That isn't what I was getting at. We have a problem with ignoring things that coaches or good wrestlers do because of who they are.
