who’s the possible replacements? Especially that late in the season. if someone like Pop came in that late (can’t imagine he would but this might be an opportunity he couldn’t pass up) that would set up a series of huge dominoes of coaching changes very late in the year. would definitely spice things up.

Wouldn’t Minnesota have to sign off on a transfer this late since transfer portal is closed? Would Eggum be willing to sign off on letting his biggest star in history walk out the door to a rival? Personally I would love to see him at Iowa. Would make things more entertaining but I just don’t see him doing Minnesota that dirty.

on Twitter and message boards alike all you see is Iowa was robbed of a title in 2020 due to Covid cancellations. At first glance it’s hard to argue against that point. They were loaded and it looked like they were going to win the title in a landslide victory. But then you start doing some research and realize they had everyone back from the 2020 team in 2021 and 2022, except for Pat Lugo. You would think Lugo was a pretty significant loss except for the fact that they bumped up Murin and replaced him with Jaydin Eierman. If you’re scoring at home that’s an upgrade in my mind. So my long-winded question is, Was Iowa really robbed like their fans suggest? They had a do-over opportunity in 2022 with the ENTIRE cast returning (swapping Eierman for Lugo) and STILL LOST. Penn St on the other hand lost Cassar, S. Rasheed, Hall and Joseph from the 2020 season. I don’t think we can for sure crown them a mythical 2020 national champ especially since they were granted a 2022 “Do-Over”.

Howard is definitely AA possibility if Healthy. Based on room track record I wouldn’t rule out that he’s made jumps since we saw last him too. plus 125 cleared out quite a bit from last year. A lot of of high level graduates.

Wrestlestat updates high profile transfers the day of. Some of the projected scoring I don’t agree with because they have incoming freshmen rated too low. by mid-season that’s usually cleared up though.

Everyone forgets Iowa has suspensions coming this year with the gambling stuff. Couple that with Ayala injury (shoulder; out until sometime in Jan) it’s going to be an ugly season for Iowa standards. the following year when Cassioppi, Woods, Brands and Assad all graduate the cupboard will be bare. They’ll have part time Keuter (if he doesn’t go football full time), realistically one Ferrari (true frosh angelo), Drake (if he can stay healthy), RFR Arnold and Under-achieving Kennedy. this could be the end of the Brands Era.

This might have been mentioned in another thread, but with Nolf vs Dake, and Taylor vs Brooks at Final X do you think there’s any weirdness in the room amongst those guys? As a competitor you would think there would have to be. Gotta be weird for coaches too. Wonder how they handle it. Side note, I would’ve liked to see Brooks go 92KG from the start to have more NLWC guys on the team.
